The Japanese Capcom title Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom may be one of the biggest reasons for US residents buying imported Wiis (or doing unspeakable things to their consoles to allow them to play the game, cough cough). Featuring famous Capcom faces pitted up against the characters of Japanese animation studio Tatsunoko Production, gamers have been drooling over it for some time now -- and hoping it would make it here for a U.S. release.
A thread on NeoGAF came to our attention by way of the sharp eye of Dtoid community member Phoenix Gamma that showed off pictures of a Nintendo Power that confirmed the game was coming to the U.S. Kotaku posted a larger photo of the issue as well (see above), and if you peer closely you can see the story was written by Chris Hoffman, who is most definitely employed by Nintendo Power.
While we can't run screaming into the streets with joy just yet, all the signs point to proof, so all we have to do is wait. We've contacted Nintendo for comment, and let's hope the answer is that this is real -- it would be the greatest news to come out of this year's E3 season for many a fighting fan. Cross your fingers!

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I need to get a fightstick for the wii before they're $100.
No crap. I die inside every time I think about Brawl's online multiplayer. Maybe this one will be playable.
....you know...*strokes chin*
Also the idea of them just "switching" the Tatsunoko characters to Marvel for the US release is just retarded, I'm glad this came out and said NO to that.
Henshin a go go, baby!
Cannot wait.
Going to add this game to my must-have list
I love me some Marvel vs. Capcom 2, but I want this soooooo much more...
@Dv8thwonder
If it's coming here, it'll have to do with the US branch of Nintendo, which Miyamoto doesn't really have a lot to do with, does he? That doesn't mean you should be praying to your Reggie shrine (or HAVE a Reggie shrine) --- I'm just saying. :P
What the hell does Miyamoto have to do with this?
Plus the fact that this seems to keep the chaos and fun of MvC2 while adding some much-needed balance to the roster.
I'm hoping this pays off in the long run.
This game is pretty much confirmed to sell well because of the versus name.
I call fake unless more pics are released. And a cover and details on which Nintendo Power this is.
HENSHIN A GO GO BABY!
That's Casshan robot hunter or maybe one of the G-Force guys.
Now add online play, and the game might actually sell.
That said, so much for Jonathan-Holmes' Marvel vs. Capcom 3 theory.
After reading lots of Nintendo Power for a while, I can tell you that it's not fake. Probably the July issue or something.
Yeah, the roster's definitely gonna be hella unfamiliar for most. I think the only Tatsunoko characters I recognize are the two Gatchaman characters, and that's only because I remember G-force being on Cartoon Network when I was a wee tike.
ONLINE MODE IS ADDED!
Fuck yes even more!
It says online play MAY be added. Which means it MAY not be. I wouldn't get your hopes up yet.
