DICE is adding servers, fixing issues with Battlefield 1943 photo

Electronic Arts DICE's Battlefield 1943 has had a rough start. Since the downloadable title’s release, we’ve heard people talking about all sorts of nasty things: vicious latency issues and random disconnections are among the worst complaints. If you’ve hopped on this morning, you may have noticed a difference. DICE has been adding servers and burning the Swedish variant of midnight oil in order to kill the issues related to their over capacity servers. (The price has also dropped from 90,000 Microsoft Points to the standard price.)

“Good news,” EA DICE’s Gordan Van Dyke said via the game’s official forum yesterday afternoon (spotted by Edge), “the game is incredibly successful beyond even my expectations. We have reached server capacity, but the bad news about this now [is that] some people can’t join unless someone leaves. But don’t worry,” Van Dyke continued, “we are adding more servers ASAP to Xbox and in preparation [for the] PS3 that should start going up ASAP with priority on Xbox 360.”

So, there you go. It’s being fixed and from what we’ve heard, the issues are slowly going away. If you’re looking to keep track of what’s going on, go ahead and follow that message board thread. EA DICE is being responsible about all of this.

The game is awesome. I've been enjoying it since yesterday on XBL. Though I miss some organzized squad action.

Wow, less than a day and not only is DICE responding to complaints, they are fixing them in a timely manner. Meanwhile, Gears 2 is still a broken piece of shit and you will get banned from the forums if you mention you lost your game data. Seriously, take a good look at how a real game company operates Epic, then go fuck yoursleves.

Ouchy, not a nice way to start off a brand new game.

The game improved dramatically yesterday between the morning and later at night. When I first played it in the morning the lag was horrible and my connection kept dropping. I tried again late last night (~11PM EST) and while it took a while for me to get in a game, once I got in the experience was smooth and enjoyable.

Hopefully, as they add more servers, the issues with finding an open game will decrease.

it was god damn near impossible to get into a match yesterday. its still pretty hard now. But when I do, it doesn't lag and this game is pretty fun.

EA and DICE did royally fuck up though.

I couldn't get on at all last night. Hopefully tonight proves to be more successful.

I bought it this afternoon and it's fine, the only problem is sometimes it takes a while to find a game, or just says no games availiable. Loving it so far though

I learned a long time ago, wait a day and let the early adopters find the bugs. That 24 hours is priceless :-)

The BF1943 twitter account just tweeted:

Xbox 360 will have around double the servers we have now by 4:30 PST (12:30 GMT)! This will be done in stages so please bear with us.

I'll say this, it must be popular on PSN as it's taking forever to download just the trial. And 600MB games normally don't take long for me.

For $10-15 this will be on my PS3, I didn't even know that this was out yet.

This game is really incredible, and it's great to know that DICE is working around the clock to add more servers.

From DICE:

Update#4: We have full support of EA to add as many servers as takes and then some so that everyone can play. This work has already started and servers will be added around the clock with teams working to cover this 24 hours a day so not a moment is wasted. You will be able to play this game and play it lag free!

Update#5: Xbox 360 will have around double the servers we have now by 4:30 PST (12:30 GMT)! This will be done in stages so please bear with us. We also increased PS3 servers before release and will keep increasing both the Xbo 360 and PS3's capacity until needs are met with enough extra for peak playing times!

This is extremely insensitive being that I enjoyed this so much, but holy crap it was funny.

The last match I played I was a sniper. I put all of my demo charges onto a plane and started to fly, I angled the plane so that when I jumped out it would hit a spot where the other team all were. Jump out, deploy my parachute, and wait till the very last second to blow the charges still on the plane. I took out FIVE people and a tank. It was SO AWESOME. That is the kind of thing you wish you had replays for.

I don't suppose 360 and PS3 share servers? I would assume not, but I wanna get the game on 360 and all my RL friends have PS3's :(

(I could get it on PS3 but these games are usually better on 360)
