It may have been due to all the “too colorful” shenanigans, but no one has really been focusing on what Diablo III’s story will contain. Tracey John, Multiplayer’s man with two first names, apparently realized this himself, as he attempted to drag some information on that very subject from lead designer Jay Wilson.
Not wanting to provide spoilers, Wilson only gave a few vague details, stating that we can expect to see plenty of familiar faces from Diablo, Diablo II, and the Diablo novels.
“We also tried to focus a little more on bringing characters back, and not just from Diablo II but from Diablo I,” he said. “We feel like a lot of the focus is on Diablo II but Diablo I started it all and has a lot of really good stuff on the gameplay side and on the character side. So people can expect to see characters from Diablo I, more characters from Diablo II, and characters from some of the books. We’re definitely going to bring a few of them in.”
Wilson also adds that while Blizzard is trying their best to “bring this storyline to a close,” it won’t be the end of the Diablo franchise, as they’ve “got plans beyond.” So what sort of direction do you think Diablo might go in after III? Are there any time periods, characters, or infernal monsters you’d like future games to focus on?

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
atleast i'll be playing diablo 4 with assumed children in 12 years.
Having not completed number II and not read the books, all I can say is so long as they make the beginning 10hours accessible and interesting is good enough for me. Still looking forwards to number III, colours and all....
Does Diablo team up with Kerrigan?
Why no sequel to Lost Vikings or Rock & Roll Racing? How about Blackthorne then. Just a nice follow up to Blackthorne.
Unlike other companies, Blizzard doesn't have to worry about not being successful. Success is their middle name. Please don't turn into the Nintendo of PC gaming and change that middle name to CashCow.
Thanks for posting! One thing though -- last time I checked, I'm a woman with two first names. ;)
Thanks again!
