But I do agree that nerfs suck.
But anyway, yeah. "Their most useful skills downgraded" certainly couldn't translate into "their most ridiculously broken abilities brought in line." People upset their mains got nerfed, film at 11.
I guess that sucks for anyone dependent on smoke screen...?
Though honestly, this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Blizzard could learn from Valve or Aksys on how to balance a game correctly.
Seriously, blizzard and nerf should get together and make a line of toys.
SS is used primarily for late Hell and Inferno. Slow builds simply don't work under those circumstances, particularly against Elites that seem to ignore slow and stun entirely.
That said, life as a DH is harder, but not impossible. Chaining for nearly 30 seconds of invulnerability is admittedly broken. It just results in less "Stand and fight!" and more "Get to the fucking exit."
My rooting caltrops work fine all the way through Act 4 Hell on everything but bosses. Can't speak for slow ones, but rooting still works. I'm 1 level away from 60, then I can see how Inferno fares.

I'm glad they nerfed smokescreen the way they did, as it's still viable with the lingering fog rune. You just can't chain cast it.
I already said it before but the nerf is significant because it leaves the hunter without anything on inferno or hell, most mobs are immune to their traps and they die very quickly, running only works till you meet a jailer/vortex/teleport mob, even then most enemies are faster than you.
"HUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRR ITS HARDER DURRRRRRRRRRRR" Yes I know, but again like I said before, big difference between something that's hard and something that's frustrating. A hunter can farm for days and well, quite frankly the equipment a hunter needs to survive just doesn't exist.
"and/or motivate users to use the real-money Auction House."
This is NOT a good thing, I already bought the game, I am not giving Blizzard or any person more of my money.
I don't think balanced when I think Diablo anyway, anyone remember hammerdins in Diablo 2? Im sure Sephiroth X doesn't since he wasn't even born yet, but for the adults who played it, think hard and you'll recall all the broken shit had and still does.
x2
Okay, fine, I'll give that a go. But I won't be touching the RMAH.
I hope this image helps this sink in for both of you.
Elementary level stuff like that really shouldn't sucker you in like that.
Really, how hard is it to update the tooltip values? Answer: it's not! That's just lazy, and kind of weird...
Mortar enemies are pretty easy once you get used to their pattern. Either stay closer to them and kite them in a tighter pattern, or keep on the move so the mortar blast misses you and only attack after the blast has gone out. Mortar on its own is rarely a problem; it's when it's combined with vortex, jailer, or sometimes knockback that it becomes especially rough.
Demon Hunters are still some of the best kiters in the game, with many abilities that allow them to deal damage while still on the move. Sure, vortex/jailers can be a problem (for ANYONE), but spamming Vault, Caltrops with a stun rune, or even Smoke Screen as soon as you get dragged in can often give you enough time to move away and avoid the damage. And hey, if you die, you at least can't claim it was false advertising (as people claimed regarding ME3).
"big difference between something that's hard and something that's frustrating."
An entirely subjective difference, for what it's worth.
"A hunter can farm for days and well, quite frankly the equipment a hunter needs to survive just doesn't exist."
So you've changed your tune now from, "I don't -want- to farm in a Diablo game!" to this?
Just for the record, saying "the gear doesn't exist" and/or "the class doesn't have the skills to make survival possible" contradicts the notion that this is pushing people toward the auction house.
He's certainly got JimmyX beat.

I play Barbarian. Woot. SirLaggsalot is safe for now.
I'm pretty quick to dismiss complaints about things being nerfed, because the reactions to said nerfs, since the dawn of the internet, are knee-jerk complaining to players who are likely not nearly as injured as they claim. I prefer to withhold judgement on balance changes until they've had a chance to shake out.
This is especially true with D3. It's a far cry from D2, where a marquee ability getting nerfed would mean a reroll to get the newest optimum build. It's not even WoW, where a major talent/ability nerf means you have to pay some gold to respec. Respeccing is absolutely, fabulously free in Diablo 3, so why not take your time and try other stuff out before hollering on a forum or comment thread? I'm sure I won't know whether Hunters, Monks, and Wizards are balanced with this change until I extensively test it myself.
That said, DH still has enough tools to be viable and fun. SS is still a good panic button, you just can't panic for 30 seconds any more.
On that note though I have no idea how hard it is as I am level 31 and still not done Normal but I remember D2 Hell spanking my ass. I am playing a WD at the same time though so it's taking me longer to finish.
>Claim to be trolling
>post same responses in both articles
Must be a really shitty troll brah. And really, "I wuz trollan guiz" is a 2007 response. Any real troll never responds like that. You just got called out for whining about whiners. It won't ruin your front page rep(lol).
I am, actually. Or was, since I beat it on Normal already. Not that its like a great or complicated story you cant guess the end of before Act1 is over, but its still nice to play through. Id have appreciated the spoiler warning if I had not already beat it, is what Im saying.
But really wtf, 10 years to make it and theyre releasing balancing patches in the first week. THIS ISNT FUCKING WORLD OF WARCRAFT BLIZZARD, GAMES NOT GONA BREAK IF SHITS NOT PERFECTLY BALANCED. So what if theres a couple powerful combos? Fucking let people use them and fuck right off.
Try to fix Diablo 3 so there's more than a handful of viable builds.
People cry about that too.
At that point demon hunter becomes pretty much unplayable. Have fun!
I don't understand why people can't just play the game on Normal, finish, and be happy?!?
Yesterday on the forums, Blizzard admitted they didn't really test nightmare and hell modes, and didn't test Inferno nearly at all.
So there you go, we are currently beta testing this 60 dollar game, you know you didn't test the other diffs properly and still nerf certain abilities. That's the issue here.
In the case of some characters, their abilities are garbage, take the witch doctor, the pet class, all his pets suck on normal or above, they die in seconds and the cooldown on them is to big.
