Diablo III art director resigns: Whiny little Diablo fans celebrate alone photo

In news that is sure to make complaining purist Diablo fans happy, it has been confirmed that Diabo III's art director, Brian Morrisroe has resigned from Blizzard. He is the man responsible for spearheading Diablo III's current visual style, which caused controversy when a bunch of pathetic spoiled brats complained that the game was far too beautiful for a Diablo game. Also it had too many rainbows.

Blizzard had this to say to MTV Multiplayer when they asked about Blizzard's new job opening. It also contained bad news for those aforementioned bitchy brats:

Regarding Brian, he recently resigned to form a startup technology company (outside the game industry), which is why we’ve posted about the open position. This change won’t impact the game…we’re really pleased with the look and feel that Brian helped create for Diablo III, and the new person we bring onboard will work with the other artists on the team to maintain the art style moving forward.

Good luck to Brian, who has won my heartfelt respect for indirectly helping to show just how ridiculous some self-styled "fans" of a videogame can be and for creating some really pretty rainbows. Good on Blizzard for sticking to its artistic guns, too.

I'm glad that Blizzard is standing behind the guy's work and his artistic vision, which should further jam that dildo right up the asses of whiny fans.

Glad to hear they are keeping the art the way it is as it's a nice slap in the face to those damn fanboys!

Thank God this is completely divorced from the "fan" whining. I like the art direction of Diablo III. I do feel like some of the screens I've seen look a bit "hazy," but I like the color and general aesthetic.

Zelda WW was cartoonish and although it was a great game, people still complained that it was too cartoony. Now these idiots are complaining about this?

If the game is good, then who cares if it was too cartoony. Just play the damn game and if you don't like it then don't buy it.

these retarded fans do realize the reason why diablo 2 wasnt as colorful was because graphics cards used only 256 color spectrums?

This is the problem with Blizzard. They treat their employees like dirt and expect gold in return. They make billions and yet underpay their extreme talent.
There's really no such thing as being a "Blizzard Fan" because the guys that you were a fan of before don't work there anymore. It's gonna bite them in the arse one of these days. Actually, it was biting them a little till they hit it huge with WoW.

To all of the fanboys with pirated copies of photoshop, who desaturated Diablo 3 images and cried "oh noes, rainbows"...

Eat a dick. Nothing is gonna change, and that's a good thing.

Blizzard has never given anyone reason to doubt them, and it does not look like they will anytime soon.

Dude essentially quits due to fan/community/interbutts reaction over texture colors?

Gee, it's a shame there wasn't some way to change the textures in a PC game... to.... modify them in some way...

Oh wait.

Oh good, I was hoping it wasn't because he got in trouble for laying the smack down on those photoshops.

Good luck to him and give me diablo 3!!!

Is there going to be a rainbow level now? I won't buy it unless there's an all-rainbow level, where you walk on rainbows, rainbows are in the background, and you are attacked by rainbows.

I doubt that the complaints had anything to do with why the guy left (well besides just Blizzard saying it).

If Blizzard wanted a darker tone in D3 in response to the complaints all they'd really have to do is tweak a few light settings.

The guy who laid the smack down on the photoshopped images was Jay Wilson, the lead designer.

Like Technophile said, he laid the smack down on the photoshops right here.I'm relieved to see he didn't suddenly change his mind. He gives some really practical reasons for the direction and besides, those photoshops look like ass. I've never really been interested in diablo but this new iteration looks pretty awesome.
