As much as I'd like to be excited about this. I am not really. However I am oddly hyped for Torchlight 2.

Actually, I retract the part about the angle. Forgot to take into account the actual skew of the poster. Now it adds up, which validates Joystiq's claim that a store employee verified the existence of this thing.

Seriously, Blizzard is still working on a lot of the core mechanics of the game (runestones and such, there's a lot of things they don't have set in stone yet if you follow the Blue posts on Blizzard forums) and to have the game go gold and be available on store shelves in a few weeks time is ridiculous.
I hope I'm wrong, but I don't have my expectations high.

Maybe they'll have a release date for a bullshit DRM removal tool soon, also. Then, maybe once they stop alienating their customers by striving so hard to be Ubisoft, people will actually pay for it instead of pirating it, which will happen in record numbers with this game.

As to the veracity, I tend to believe it. Most people misspell Feb (not even gonna risk it), and you wouldn't believe the half-assednes and blatant errors that make it in to expensive print ads, catalogues, and magazine covers until you've read photoshop disasters all the way through.

This kind of thing doesn't deserve Destructoid page-space until it's been confirmed by Blizzard. This isn't the first time a retailer has posted a false release date, nor would it be the first time a troll-ish fan has photoshopped fake information either if that's the case.
Wait, I forgot about the online only. Still buying, but will wait to install, until a crack hits. It ain't hitting in Feb anyway and Christ my backlog.

Battle.net. isn't DRM. That doesn't mean Diablo III doesn't have DRM, though. Starcraft and Diablo II played online through Battle.net, and I did nothing BUT play those games locally.

I have also heard that some Best Buy employees asked their managers and were told "it's just a placeholder." On the other hand, I can't imagine putting up the ads for a midnight opening and then selling something else on opening night.
Knowing Blizzard's "when it's done" schedule, maybe February 1 will be an announcement that we will be getting the release date soon? :P

Apparently Blizzard confirmed this false, and went on to show that the standee at Best Buy spelled 'February' wrong. Here's a picture where you can see its spelled 'Feburary'
