It appears as though BlizzCon 2008 started with a big, magical bang. Right from the onset the convention goers were greeted with the above trailer, which unveiled the new wizard class in Diablo 3.

Aside from carrying around an orb reminiscent of the Labyrinth, the wizard class looks as though it’s carrying quite a punch. Notice how impactful some of the environmental spells are towards the end of the trailer. I smell less clicking and more blood in the near future.

I can’t say I’m a big fan of spell slinging. I’d much rather tear up monsters with an axe. In fact, Blizzard needs to add dwarves with axes for hands instead of worrying about stuff like wizards or barbarians. How awesome would it be to control a midget with sharp hands? Picking up health potions might suck, but it would be entertaining nonetheless.

I generally stray away from magic classes too, but this class looks pretty sweet.

that was sw33t. We all know Wizards are powerful in Diablo, problem is saving mana and using it efficiently.

This looks fantastic! I'm not sure if it'll be enough to convince me not to focus on a Barbarian, since they're my number one squeeze, but I'll certainly try one out.

Considering they probably didn't just show what the Wizard can really do... I am excited to see what their most powerful spells look like!
