Diablo 3: Eight players is a party, nine could be too much photo

Blizzard is still unsure how many people will be involved with the cooperative portion of Diablo 3.  Blizzard executive vice-president Rob Pardo told IGN at BlizzCon that he was “worried” that too many players could soil the experience.

From the interview:

We’re a little bit worried that if you go up to too many players that you’re not really going to be playing together anymore. We want to make sure it’s a great co-op experience where you really play with the people you’re with, so we’ve just got to experiment and figure out what the optimal number is.
Later on, Pardo confirmed that Blizzard is seeking a limit of eight players, which would probably still make Diablo 3 a mess if one imagines eight newly-announced wizards casting environmental spells at once. The demo at BlizzCon only consisted of four people simultaneously, which probably means that eight people is going to be insane. Thankfully, I’ll be able to control all eight characters at once in the luxury of my own home. Beware my upcoming cyberspace legion of axe-handed dwarves, skeletons. Beware.

Yeah that makes sense.

They do say 9 is a crowd...

And in all honesty, it does make sense to limit a party size...otherwise, I see a party with 30 people who don't care about each other, as cheating.

I usually go round with about 3-4 players including myself.

Should help to avoid mass market/ scamming servers and the such.

Not that it matters, but add me to the list of those who agree with this list. There just comes a point where there's just too many people.

If only Cartman's method of freezing himself for just a few weeks worked. This game can't get here quickly enough.

You know Brad, I'm pretty sure that if we keep pushing we'll get spikes on those axe-handed dwarves' heads.

Eight players seems like too much. Everybody backstabbing each other for loot then leaving? Not for me.

Yeah, if you're going to limit it I'd say take it down to four. Anything higher than that would be chaos.

Boo at Brad for missing a perfectly good `Eight is Enough` reference.

Yeah Eight sounds like a good party size. I never remember playing Diablo 2 with more than eight (unless you count minions... -_-)
