The only reason it took so long to realise the full potential of the PS3 is because it was designed as a bitch to program for, whereas the 360 was built to be simple as it's number 1 priority.
Comparing Gears and Halo to Uncharted and Heavy Rain (please reserve opinions of the creator for this comparison), there's pretty much no contest.
The issue comes when a lot of developers today have gotten, for lack of a better word, lazy and build a game for a 360 and phone in the PS3 and PC transfers.
And its going to seem wrong for me to say it, and I'm sorry, but I can't help but feel the tingle of bias from those in the article who are saying these things, because they're all Japanese companies. Traditionally most of them side with Sony as if it were their default setting.
I mean, its even laughable that we'd need to wonder why any one from Square-Enix says something like this -look at where most of their games, including re-releases like the upcoming Chrono-cross/FFV/FFVI end up. Even if Julien Merceron isn't Japanese, the company he enjoys employment from has been brushing elbows with Sony for over a decade now, and they seem to have a good working relationship, of course there's going to be praise thrown in their favor.

wait, i think this is a master plan to calm the trolls and everyone here!!
Soon we all be saying ALL HAIL DALE, ALL HAIL THE CORGI MASTER RACE!
Considering how many problems have revolved around getting games like Rage and BF3 to work properly on most PCs, I'll stick to my console versions. At least I know that my PS3 and 360 won't shit out a stuttering piece of crap cause 1 setting is wrong.
I have to side with you there.
When I bought BF2 I could not play it for THREE WEEKS and I did memory dumps, ram checks and all that fun shit before posting on like 8 different forums before someone suggested something that finally worked allowing me to play the game I had just bought. I can't even remember but it was but it was a nightmare to work around.
I have never had this issue on my consoles.
With that in mind I plan to drop around a pretty penny on a new PC new year!
So in the end, any difference is insignificant.
Yeah those side by side comparisons of Red Dead are no contest on the PC, wait there aren't any. Go play Sword of the Stars 2 for an hour then come see me about how awesome the PC is. As much as I love PC gaming sitting in a forum for a day or two looking for a fix to get pass the load screen and downloading a bunch of drivers that wined up breaking your current performance in some games does not make it that much more awesome, sorry. Consoles only have two problems to worry about, putting the disc in and powering it on.
The graphics quality of both PS3 and 360 multiplatform games are almost always so minimal most people won't even know until it's pointed out on the interwebz :D
The PS3 can do a bit more on exclusives, mostly because developers started assigning GPU functions to the Cell satellite processors when it became obvious that the GPU was at its limit. Since developers are only going to do that kind ground-up programming for exclusives, that advantage seldom translates to multi-platform titles.
People always argue about multi-platform titles, but for the most part I can't tell much difference until someone takes a screenshot and points out how the lighting is different here or the shadows are different there.
Long story short, if I were trying to pick between the two as to which one I'd buy, "graphics" would probably be the last thing I would consider. It's pretty amazing how evenly the PS3 and 360 are, to be honest. Have two consoles ever been this close in terms of graphical power?
The Wii ALSO came out after the 360, does that make it more powerful? Obviously not, and I think that's a very flawed line of thinking.
The two consoles are literally the same, any advantage the PS3 has with its CPU is immediately stipped out by having less GPU RAM. They are both hardly the most balanced machines ever...
Games that look good on either platform are that way due to polish, either because of the game being very focused (hyper-linear like Uncharted) or the developer going that extra mile to make it happen (Naughty Dog being quite talented).
I don't even see how power really matters at this point, in the wake of the games being made not being any different and of the PC being so far ahead.
Just look at games like Uncharted 3, they blow anything the 360 has out of the water, they also obliterate anything the dead PC platform can come up with as well, so I have no idea why the unwashed PC nerds are on here crying. Go back to playing WOW you fools, PC gaming is dead and it's because it has terrible graphics.
Gears Of War 3 and Crysis 2 on the PC looks like they were hand - drawn by a blind, retarded monkey compared to Uncharted 3.
