Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon announced, limited release photo

We've been watching ever since Atlus sent us hints. We thought we had it figured out this morning. But it's nice to finally get that official confirmation.

A press release from Atlus confirms that Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon will be making its way to North America on March 12 for the PlayStation 2. This demon negotiating, case-solving RPG is set in the 1920's where you'll be able to command two demons at once in combat. That's... that's my dream.

The press release states that this game will be "extremely limited in quantity" and that each copy will come with a free Raiho plushie.  Atlus says that "Only a small amount of these rare bundles will be assembled, and each package will be numbered to ensure its rarity and collectible value."

SMT nerds, don't procrastinate. I'm nabbing this as soon as I see it!

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon has an MSRP of $39.99. Check out the new screenshots in our gallery.

Thank you, Atlus!

I didn't like Devil Summoner. I had a chance to play it after DDS and Nocturne, and this game just couldn't stand up to them in any way.

I wonder how this one will do?

Ah rats. Just barely the beginning of the year, and already I can see that my wallet is crying out for the endless barrage of games coming out in the near future.

Atlus is single-handedly keeping my PS2 alive. I didn't finish the first game, but then I'm so crap at finishing SMT titles, and I just love playing them so much. Devil Summoner felt like it was lacking a little bit, and a polished up version would be glorious.

@Dale North

My game store (The Source By Circuit City) just uses a book that they write peoples phone numbers and names in. So when they get the game (and hopefully the plushie), they will just give me a call.

Does anyone know if every single copy comes numbered and with the plushie? Or is that just the special edition?

Daddy wants.

I keep forgetting the first one of this exists. Is this a direct sequal to it? Regardless I'll probably go pick up the first one now.

I'm hoping they send out an email to the Atlus Faithful that explains how to pre-order this. Amazon doesn't have it yet, Gamestop only lists the first game's strategy guide, and I can't find it anywhere on Atlus' site.

Also, balls to extremely limited quantities. It's fine when they do it for a PS1 reprint...but this is a new game.

You'd think it'd be available for preorder FIRST on Amazon, given all the super-duper-special deals they seem to have with that site, but NOTHING....

Okay, much awesome. Considering that I'm getting the first Devil Summoner from Goozex as we speak, I'm going to have to find a way to get this into my hands as well.

Any word if they's going to be a special version with Nocturne packed in like in Japan?

@ Son of BaconSandwhich I totally concur. I played the first one and was bored to tears. I quickly returned it to Gamefly. Not sure the sequel will be that much better. I love Atlus and SMT, but this is a weak series. Nocturne, DDS 1 and 2, and the Persona series are where it's at.

I can't believe they used the number 2. This is the 4th Devil Summoner game, Atlus USA. I know you know that.

I am going to pull some strings and call in a few favors to see if I can get multiple copies of this -before- launch and decorate my room with Raihos. I am so excited.

@Paladi: No, we're not getting the special edition Nocturne. You're not really missing anything, we already have that exact version of the game, except our versions have a Dante skin instead of a Raidou skin.

@F Whipple: Nope. Vs. the Soulless Army has one more letter than Vs. the Abaddon King. Of course, it's even if you count the 2, which I don't.

@People who were bored with the first one: This one has a whole slew of new features that actually make the game a lot more palatable. Look into it, they may have fixed what you didn't like about the previous game.

Gen Eric Gui: I enjoyed the first one. I just HATED having to fight every boss in the game a second time. Eventually I just gave up in the final dungeon. Which is sad since I actually enjoyed the plot...

Gen Eric Gui:

That's ashame. I wasn't into SMT when it was released, and I missed it. I want to go back and play it, but I've had a hard time to find a copy in my area.

Also: I can understand if you cant pronounce the name right, but at least spell it right when it's ON THE SAME PAGE!!! IT'S PALIDI, not PALADI!!

For everyone still reading this, apparently the "Limited Release" is only the one with the plush. The game itself will be just as available as all of Atlas's other games for the first few months after its release.

Good to hear. Getting the plush doll would be cool, but my son or daughter would probably end up taking it, like the Teddy doll that came in that Persona 4 pack.

Now I just need to wait and see if Amazon gets it.
