We've been watching ever since Atlus sent us hints. We thought we had it figured out this morning. But it's nice to finally get that official confirmation.
A press release from Atlus confirms that Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon will be making its way to North America on March 12 for the PlayStation 2. This demon negotiating, case-solving RPG is set in the 1920's where you'll be able to command two demons at once in combat. That's... that's my dream.
The press release states that this game will be "extremely limited in quantity" and that each copy will come with a free Raiho plushie. Atlus says that "Only a small amount of these rare bundles will be assembled, and each package will be numbered to ensure its rarity and collectible value."
SMT nerds, don't procrastinate. I'm nabbing this as soon as I see it!
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon has an MSRP of $39.99. Check out the new screenshots in our gallery.
Thank you, Atlus!

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I wonder how this one will do?
My game store (The Source By Circuit City) just uses a book that they write peoples phone numbers and names in. So when they get the game (and hopefully the plushie), they will just give me a call.
Does anyone know if every single copy comes numbered and with the plushie? Or is that just the special edition?
I keep forgetting the first one of this exists. Is this a direct sequal to it? Regardless I'll probably go pick up the first one now.
Also, balls to extremely limited quantities. It's fine when they do it for a PS1 reprint...but this is a new game.
I am going to pull some strings and call in a few favors to see if I can get multiple copies of this -before- launch and decorate my room with Raihos. I am so excited.
@Paladi: No, we're not getting the special edition Nocturne. You're not really missing anything, we already have that exact version of the game, except our versions have a Dante skin instead of a Raidou skin.
@F Whipple: Nope. Vs. the Soulless Army has one more letter than Vs. the Abaddon King. Of course, it's even if you count the 2, which I don't.
@People who were bored with the first one: This one has a whole slew of new features that actually make the game a lot more palatable. Look into it, they may have fixed what you didn't like about the previous game.
I hope I get the notification to pre-order this before it sells out.
That's ashame. I wasn't into SMT when it was released, and I missed it. I want to go back and play it, but I've had a hard time to find a copy in my area.
Also: I can understand if you cant pronounce the name right, but at least spell it right when it's ON THE SAME PAGE!!! IT'S PALIDI, not PALADI!!
@Wedge: DON'T CARE I WILL HAVE MY RAIHOS. WHEREVER THE HEE IS, THAT'S WHERE THE HO GOES, MY FRIEND.
Now I just need to wait and see if Amazon gets it.
