Devil May Cry anime hits the 'net, Dante just sits around photo

Recently (well, in the past week or so), the Devil May Cry anime hit the Internet, and was finally fansubbed, with relatively unreadable results. Now that there's a decent sub of the first episode out, Japanator has put up a review of the show and their predictions for what it'll be like.

What's the plot like? Well, the show follows Dante, as a parallel to the video games -- the story does not take place during any of the games. We see Dante as a mercenary, taking whatever jobs he can. So, what's this manly man's first mission? Protect a little girl. By the end? It looks like she's his sidekick for the rest of the series. Oh, whoops. Spoiler alert. Not like it was a surprise or anything.

So, go check out the review on Japanator, and browse around the site for a while. If you're interested in finding the episode, feel free to check it out on Stage6 here.

I'll pass. I don't need the reminder.

I should not watch, play or listen to anything with "Devil May Cry" in the title and be bored. The show didn't even feel like Devil May Cry. Color me disappointed.

I don't quite think it counts as a caption, Nex, since that's what she's saying.

I Passed on the DMC anime, there are far more interesting shows starting next week when the summer anime season begins.

If its one thing I've learned from anime is that 99% of anime based on anything sucks

That lone 1% being Gankutsuou.

I watched it this morning, I give it two thumbs sideways. It was just alright. Very unoriginal, awful subtitles (which can be forgiven because it was a fan sub, but still awful).

I hope Animanda will sub the series.

Well plenty of shows get off to slow starts. It's kind of like meeting someone in real life. The slow painful akward process of getting to know a show before you can see any real character come out.

Maybe it will suck less later.

It was ok, but i hate his "sidekick". The one line that made me feel like this was DMC was "Im gonna go to sleep now, dreaming about hot chicks".

I'm happy that it at least looks pretty, on par with fellow Madhouse-studiomate Death Note, but for the love of me, I can't figure out why Dante wants a strawberry sundae that bad. (If it's in the games, forgive me, since they're sitting on my shelf, waiting to be played.)
