Who says PC gaming is dead? Not Capcom, as they've announced Devil May Cry 4 will be coming to PCs this summer. The game is said to feature new modes, enhanced graphics options, and "some additional content."

The newly added "Turbo Mode" will simply speed up the game's action to "insane speeds," and the "Legendary Dark Knight Mode" is an increased difficultly mode that will fill the screen with an "unbelievable number of enemies." Additionally, enemy placement seems to have changed a bit, as Capcom is saying that familiar enemies from the console version will appear in different and unexpected areas. The game will support both DirectX 9 and DirectX 10, and will run at a ridiculous 120 frames per second, provided you have the rig to support it.

A  demo for Devil May Cry 4 -- including a system benchmark mode -- will be available for the PC before the game ships.

[Just for poops and giggles, I checked in with Capcom to see if console gamers could be expecting any updates that might include either the "Turbo Mode" or "Legendary Dark Knight Mode."

"As of now, there are no plans for the PC-exclusive features to be features on the console versions," I was told.

I was also told that while it's not planned, it may also still be a possibility in the future. Who would want to play those modes in 30 frames per second anyhow? That's so two months ago.]

Lets hope they include proper mouse support so we don't have a disaster like RE4 again.

120? goodness sakes.

I would've loved for these modes to be added in the 360/PS3 version. But Capcom doesn't want the game to have DLC....so they say

Hmm, well I dont think its really suited to PC unless you play with a gamepad... but sure why not? Then again, the RE4 port to PC was god awful, even with a gamepad

Not surprized, the game does not have that much going on for a PC with a 8800 series card (or even lower) It is not the most impressive 3d graphics display I have ever seen.

The ps3 or xbox 360 cant handle the game at 120 fps.

PC are far ahead of consoles 120fps is common across most games.

hell in 2003 when unreal champion ship on xbox could only get around 30 I was peaking at 150 fps on almost the same game known as ut2003.

It still works that way disable the cap on UT3 or call of duty 4 bioshock, orange box or any other port and the games will soar way ahead of the console version frame rate and stay there on any decent PC with filtering to improve visuals and at higher res..

But I am still not going to buy it for my PC since capcom screws everything else about the PC versions up.

If this port is the same quality as Devil May Cry 3 or RE4, then no thank you. If Capcom learned their lessons from those disasters, then maybe. *crosses arms and looks cynical*

Though, you know, that they're putting DX10 Shaders and new game modes in it suggest that, miracle of miracles, they're going to put actual honest to God EFFORT into the port this time. Let's all hope so.

Devil May Cry 3 for PC was terrible. This would have to improve a ton to be worth buying. Either have a gamepad or don't even consider this.

As an added reminder, the company responsible for the previous ports of games were outsourced to other companies...

For EXAMPLE, RE 4 was done by the horrible, horrible, Ubisoft that has traditionally sucked ass in the PC porting arena...

120 FPS is no better than 48 FPS to the human eye. If you can run it at 60, then it shouldn't dip down to 50 or lower, so 120 is really just a pissing contest thing.

Fuck Capcom.

If by 'enhanced' they mean palming it off to Ubi to do some truly awful port and disable most post-DirectX 7 effects in the process and have shit all in the way of configuration options then yeah, it'll be real 'enhanced' I'm sure.

good luck running it? it's just a console game the dirt cheep old nivida 7800GTX could get you the 120fps.

You act like you would need something huge for to get. it's not A super PC game like crysis, or how doom 3 used to be in 2003, or any other PC game that pushed stuff.

Or ati gpu. even cheep dirt cheep radeon HD 3850, for only
$200. I will even be nice and show a special sale that gives you ATI radeon hd 3870, Ati secound fastest card ever made to this date for only $169.

update your GPu enjoy 120 fps in most every console game (though games like bioshock and call of duty 4 are really PC games.) at tripple digit frame rates.

more shaders and vertex processors that the tiny xbox 360 gpu has higher res than 1080p.

At that price 3870 is steal and I would buy 2 maybe even 3 if my motherboard was not Nvida sli and I just bought 2 9800Gx2,

but you only need one 3870 to run a wimpy console game like devil may cry 4 at max 120fps, unless the programers broke it.

The fact that Capcom are handling this one themselves fills me with hope. Hopefully it will also be directly compatible with the 360 controller on the PC.

Anything more than 60 fps is not needed. A crt monitor that refreshes at 120hz is surely *very* easy on the eye, compared to a 60hz screen, which flickers, but that's not much to do with motion perception. There is no flicker problem on LCD's, but response time issues.
Morrius's Avatar

120 fps isn't much of a big deal in the world of PC gaming... but most people surely have TFTs now, which aren't capable of a refresh rate that high. Still, after the absolute abortion that was Resident Evil 4 for the PC, lets see if they can be bothered with this one...
