I don’t know about you, but, honestly, I’m already sold. Amazing developer? Check. 2D? Double check. On the Wii? AMAZING! Ninjas? *head explodes*
Vanillaware, a company that is to sprite-based graphics as Pixar is to computer animation, has announced some early details on a brand new 2D side-scrolling action game for the Wii.
Tentatively titled Oboro Muramasa Youtouden (loose translation: Chad is so Happy), the game takes place in feudal Japan as players fight samurai warriors and celestial Gods at a variety of different locales (ancient temples, grasslands, cities, etc.). In addition, the game will feature two playable characters: Momohime, a young girl who wields a katana, and Kisuke, a ninja boy with a case of amnesia.

Wii need(s) more 2D games!
Great to see it make the front page, and I am sure as punch that it will make it to the states. Odin Sphere sold well from what I know. I had trouble finding it, the first three Gamestops I went to were sold out on the first day. That's usually a good sign.
Do Want.
Pass.
The funny thing about all this, is that games by Atlus, Vanillaware, Nippon Ichi etc have me more excited than Square's efforts. If you don't have a Wii here's another good reason to buy one.
Do want! Odin Sphere seriously had my jaw on the floor for half the experience. Can't wait to see more on this
My point is that 3D graphics have destroyed a lot of the fun and style in game presentation, games like this really confirms that for me. When I think of 3D games, I think of slower movement which is too smooth and lots of dead space in the 3D game world, 2D is the excat opposite with fast, sharp movement and the screen space full of enemies.
I loved Odin Sphere, but the game was hard, and the whole stopping every 2 seconds to eat food was irritating.
This game looks win.
Oh, here's my original post:here
Hopefully the controls won't be super wonky. And hopefully they've fixed Odin Sphere's frame rate issues!
