The first developer diary in what is sure to be a long-running series for Dark Void is out and viewable after the jump. In the video, several members of Airtight Games explain a portion of the sci-fi shooter’s fiction and therefore explain why everything you’ve seen of the game thus far has looked ... odd. (Spoiler alert: Bermuda triangle.)
You’ll also get a glimpse of the flight and vertical cover mechanics -- two things that, apparently, influenced the game’s story as they evolved.
Will, the game’s protagonist, looks much more comfortable flying, by the way.
Dark Void is looking quite tasty. What are you guys thinking?
It looks like Dead Space with jetpacks. I know there's more to it than that, but that's what the game strikes me as at first. It certainly does look fun and odd. Also, there's probably some serious story I'll have to follow, but they're giving me a jetpack so I know I'm going to spend most of my time flying wherever I can.
What's Keiji Inafune's role in the development of this game? I was awfully surprised to see him there with a bunch of westerners.
Anyway, looks like another xbox shooter. snore. I love how they talk about how fascinating the unknown is and then proceed to tell us exactly where the game is set and why the world looks the way it does. Unknown, indeed.
Honestly, I don't care as much about the story, but the setting looks intriguing. I'm really rooting for this to end up as a solid finished product, and I have a feeling it won't let me down.
This is definitely a day-one purchase for me, but I'm calling it now: PS3 owners will have locked save files, since this is Capcom we're dealing with. :P
Looks great!! I've been looking forward to this since the announcement. Funny how Capcom saw the value of the dev team behind Crimson Skies....they absorbed them after MS left them hanging....MS execs are dumbasses!

Awesome, just awesome.
