I'm not really one to talk about Deus Ex as my experiences with the first two games have been relatively limited, but damn does this sh*t look tight. Watching the recently released extended trailer above may prompt me to drive all the way to my parent's house, dig through the pile of computer game boxes in the basement, find Deus Ex, install it on my POS computer and actually play all the way through it.

*Looks at giant pile of games waiting to be played next to his TV*

Well, maybe not, but damn it does look awesome. Hopefully this actually lands next year and we don't have to wait any longer.

Could you please make this into a movie, Square Enix?

Am I the only one who thinks that the trailer (or at least quite a few scenes of it) seem so generic ? This just screams "generic action title" to me, not "successor to one of the most brilliant games of all time".

I know I shouldn't judge the book by its cover, but...well the trailer just didn't do it to me.

Yeah, you're the only one. I think the trailer is outstanding, and hope the actual game is as good.

I still want to enjoy the first game, but it's so fucked up on my PC. Also, I hope my game project isn't so similar story wise.

Normally I'm one of the first people to decry trailers with nothing but cinematics, but that's goddamn sexy. I want to high-five the audio team.

Yeah I really don't mind pre rendered trailers like these because they exist for only one reason: to build hype. And you know what? This trailer did a fine job of getting me excited so I say it did its job.

Matthew, ditch the giant pile of games waiting to be played next to your TV for now and play Deus Ex on your PC. It's one of the best games ever made.

They should have just made this a movie. Wow. Amazing. Unreal. Where's the gameplay? :D

I heartily recommend you give it a try. It's easily one of the greatest PC games of all time. Above even the Half Life games in my book.

The best western anime ever. The female character still lacks something something, but whatever. I would still watch this over appleseed if it comes out on a bluray. Other than that, the story looks pretty generic and I am looking forward to catch the actual gameplay one of these days.

Yeah, you really should play DX. I mean, it's one of the greatest games of all time, and stands as the pinnacle of WRPGs. At least on par with Half-Life, in not compl---

The character's motivation is generic, the context of the game that involve concepts of trans-humanism is not. Keep in mind that Deux Ex was a great game in it's time, and inspired a lot of today's titles by making the idea that you can choose how to get from point A to point B. However that idea of having the choice is no longer revolutionary. Let's hope that this next installment makes something as interesting as the first Deus Ex. And damn!, That trailer is amazing. :D

Let's hope all squeenix does from now on is make movies since their games as of late are terrible and their cg animation skills are awesome. Just get a western writer for whatever story u wanna make because I don't wanna play a shitty anime.

I thought the exact same thing! It's like when you read older sci-fi and they have crazy shit happening in, say 2014. We have 4 years to get to the tech of Blade Runner. We need to get going, folks!

Latest estimates for the singularity and complete human roboticism are 15-20 years. Not as outlandish as you'd believe.

Anyway, though that was like, the 20th time I've watched the trailer, the music STILL gives me chills. Expertly made trailer, here's hoping the game follows up with that.
Since I *have* already preordered the augumented edition, after all.

@tekbunny: I could argue the point about the quality of Square Enix's games, but instead I'll simply mention that Square Enix isn't developing this, just publishing it. Deus Ex: HR is Eidos Montreal's baby.

@Pangloss The game doesn't even have the same look or feel as Square Enix so I don't know how anyone could get that confused.

I really hope the shots of the main character apparently exiting the atmosphere mean the game goes from being Ghost in the Shell to being Neuromancer. I'd love to do some fighting up the well.

Also, as great as these trailers are, I really hope the game doesn't have as many unplayable cutscenes as the trailers are making it seem. I suppose it'd be fine if they just did a quick background montage at the beginning of the game (like, 10-15 minutes "quick"), and then the rest of the game is mostly in-game dialogue and sequences, ala Half-Life 2 and a lot of the original Deus Ex.
