Details on US collector's edition of Street Fighter IV

Details on US collector's edition of Street Fighter IV photo
     Street fighter

A couple of weeks ago, we heard about what Australians and Europeans would have to look forward to in their Street Fighter IV collector's editions. Today, Capcom laid out what bonus items will be packaged with the US package.

After getting feedback from fans after the Japanese box art emerged, Capcom has decided to take Chun-Li off the box and replace her with Ken and Ryu. A good decision, I feel. I like Chun-Li's magnificant gams as much as the next gentleman but, when I think of Street Fighter, I think of Ryu and Ken first and foremost.

Other changes have been implemented also. Instead of the pairing of Ryu and Viper figures (with a crowded Chinese street environment to put them in) our friends across the pond are getting, American buyers will only get one figure. Ryu and Viper appear in the PS3 and 360 versions, respectively. So, Sony is getting the icon while MS is getting the bewbs.

To make up for the lack of extra figurine, however, a soundtrack will come in the box for both consoles. And everyone is getting a mini-strategy guide plus a bonus disc with an 85-minute feature that describes the backstory to the new installment (Blu-Ray on PS3, a game disc with the video in 720p for 360).

So, how many of you are planning to pick up this edition?

Oh Capcom, how I love thee. Always meeting us fans halfway, that would put many other devs to shame. Keep up the good work, and show other devs what a collectors edition should be.

Already preordered. I would like to have the PS3 version so I'd be able to use the movie on the PS3 and the blu ray player on my big tv, but I'm going to settle for the 360 so I can play with my friends and roommates.

Great! The (formerly) Japanese cover art is PERFECT. I found the other one to be busy and awkward.

I don't want the figure OR the strategy guide. I'm still tempted by t.o.s. and the full length movie though.

I wanted Chun Li on the cover. She is as iconic as Ryu or Ken. Hell, she's the first lady of fighters. I'm still getting the collector's version but I would rather have the viper figure. Ah, well, them's the breaks. I thought the Chun Li cover had better composition as well.

Wait a minute. Ryu, the main character of the whole fucking series (arguably so, mind you) isn't even going to be playable in the 360 version? FUCK THAT.

Just another way Capcom can nickel and dime their customers a few months down the road like Namco did with Vader and Yoda. Fuck them.

This is going to sound troll-ish, but I truly feel bad for 360 owners... The dpad on the 360 pad is absolutely disgusting for not only fighting games, but any game, period. I'll be getting it for ps3... however...

*runs off to find a dual system arcade stick*

(oh yeah, I gots both a 360 and ps3)

@B-radicate: What? The game is identical on both systems. Ono has said that there will be no downloadable characters because that will throw off the games balance.

@TurboHyperFighting: I've never played with the 360 d-pad, but I must say that the PS3 d-pad is not very good for fighters either. The disconnected directionals do not lend themselves to quarter circles. The only d-pad I've ever liked for fighters was the Dreamcast. I feel sorry for anyone trying to play SFIV on a d-pad. Get an arcade stick; it's a good investment

Sounds like a collectors addition that is actually worth shelling out the extra cash for.

Looks like a good collection, but I'd rather get Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, so we'll see where my money goes.

XBox 360 owners worried about the D-Pad, just get a Street Fighter IV FightPad. It'll solve your D-Pad problems and they look awesome.

That is a very nice Limited Edition set, similar to Metal Gear Solid 4's, only with a figurine. I wont be picking this up cause I'm not a fan of the series, however i will rent this to give it shot. If this game changes my mind, hell yeah Ill buy it!

I don't think I'll preorder it, seeing as how EB Games is a real hassle to deal with, but if I see it on the shelf after launch date (I still see Halo 3 Legendary sets, Grand Theft Auto 4 collectors editions and Resistance 2 collectors editions littering the shelves of Best Buy) and I have the money I'll probably pick this up.

This is making me seriously consider a collectors edition copy of a game. Usually I don't bother. But Street Fighter has a special place in my heart for some reason.

@ArrestedDeveloper: This.

Plus the D-Pad on the Sixaxis/DS3 is superior to the 360 - but I have an Arcade stick for 360. I'm so confused!

Also, I miss the Chun-Li box art.

Argh, way to make this difficult for me, Sony.

I don't mind playing with an analog stick, so that doesn't bug me on 360. However, getting the Ryu and the feature on Blu-ray, instead of Viper (who gives a shit) and a 360-specific disc that only goes to 720p instead of 1080p...it really makes me question which version to get, when I'm sure a lot of my friends will be getting the 360 version.

Viper. *sigh*

Why wouldn't they go the obvious route and give Ryu to one system and Ken to the other? I'm a Ryu man myself, but I would have settled for Ken!
