Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

Thanks to everyone who participated in our Skywire 2 match -- our lucky winners are:

$300 - Alocide
$150 - Dontstaylong
$50 - Dunsparce4Prez

Congrats, guys!  You will face MeepJeep, Wedge, and Reaprar in the finals along with three more players to be revealed in two weeks as the tournament continues.  You boys know the drill: email me your mailing address from the email that matches your user account to niero [at] destructoid [pew] com.  Prizes take a bit to go out, etc, all that good stuff.

Special thanks to Intel and Cyberpower for providing all of the awesome prizes!  The new Intel Core i7 processor is now available in their gaming systems which also include a free copy of Far Cry 2. That link may give you gaming rig endowment envy; proceed at your own risk.

Our next tournament game will be announced early next week, but if you do some Matlockery you can probably figure out what I'm up to. Keep an eye on our tournament page for more information on how to compete! Until then have a great weekend and we'll see you next week!  Don't shoot the ghouls, they're good people.

PS. Have you played Nitrome's new game yet?  These guys rule.

Everyone is supposed to make the board regardless of score and the rules specifically say you only need finish the first level in order to submit a score.

Seems like a glitch to me.

Annnd, I just tried it again and I'm still not there.

Also, why aren't there any scores on the leaderboard?

I thought the top three contestants move on? God damn internet hackers ruining everything that is good.

I love the music in this game btw. It's catchy as hell.

I really feel the list is just the first 250 submissions get in and the rest don't. =\

I don't think so because I tried getting in when it was at like 160.

Hey Niero how does the game post your profile on the leaderboard? I never see scores next to the profile names. This is on two different computers. I've have been trying to get on there with two computers, no luck.

Hey, I know a lot of people are having an extremely frustrating time making it onto the leaderboard (I am one of them). I stopped trying after I:

a.) Beat the first level and found no option to submit a score;

b.) Beat the first level and died in the next, at which point one can submit a score;

c.) Beat the first level over and over again by right-clicking and selecting Play upon the level's completion, until I had well over 35,000 points (this took about an hour while I listened to an audiobook for class).

Well, I tried once more just now and, using method B, I made it on at 87. My score was 2500 or so. Basically, getting on the leaderboard appears to be dependant on the entirely random success of the submission process. My appearance on the leaderboard was instantaneous after submitting my score, as well, so there is no delay between submission and actual appearance on the leaderboard.

I hope this was of some help to the other users trying to get in on this sweet contest!

@kciN

when u clicked submit score did it take u to the leaderboard automatically or did it just take u back to the main menu?
kciN's Avatar
kciN at 11/14/2008 21:54
Hey, it took me back to the main menu like it always did. Nothing was apparently different when I successfully submitted this time - in fact, I loaded the leaderboard by clicking "scores" from the main menu as I had done many times before, and when I Ctrl+F'd for my username I skipped over it a coupla times because I wasn't expecting to find it.

I guess just keep trying and eventually it'll catch. Pretty shitty, but so it goes (and considering we're in the running to get free shit, can't complain too much).

@kciN

if thats the case then i have no clue what im doing wrong. ive been playing non stop the past 3 days but cant seem to make it on there.

also, it is a free contest but the whole point of making it random was so everyone could have a chance and its clearly not working for a lot of people as there is way less people on the leader board compared to last time.

People who don't enjoy Nitrome games are either A) Cylons or B) Need to play them when not competing for money.

I didn't like Tanked up, but once you get into Skywire, it's a lark and 1/4 of a sparrow.

Nitrome's new game is broken. The AI bots managed to get themselves stuck in the fan blades. Therefore, I cannot complete the circuit. I hope that is not chosen as the next game. :(

i think users accounts should be checked to see how long they have been on dtoid. if a random user wins and has only been here for 2 days that doesnt seem fair to the users who have been here since the beginning.
