Destructoid Song Contest: One Rock Band for one Winner! photo

The Destructoid song contest closed it's doors yesterday evening after collecting a multitude of song entries that were eager to please. It was a triumph, and it would be negligent for me not to make a note here that it was also, a huge success. With a total of a dozen high-powered songs, it was a tough decision to determine which artist pulled up their rocking knickers to the highest degree.

The final choice was close, very close, to say the least. Yet with enough roundabouts of acoustic review, the team decided that one song in particular really knocked our panties off. It was an awkward after-moment what with everyone's unmentionables diffused across every which way, but we knew that it was a pretty indicative sign of which rock star was worthy to win the Rock Bands.

Congratulations Guitaratomik, for your song It's time for Destructoid! In exchange for your musical masterpiece we will in turn send you one whole Rock Band along with a Destructoid armband (Cat and Robo-helmet not included)! Runners up Cosbytron, Ninoog3, and King3vbo, you were all very high on our lists and will also be sent an assemblage of mystery games and prizes from the depths of the Destructoid Swag Warehouse. It was a really close call everyone, so kudos to all and never forget to rock out with your also cocks out!

Personally I preferred Cosbytrons.

I was actually thinking of making a Destructoid song a few weeks before this contest as a joke, but when this contest rolled by it lost all originality.

O SNAPZ! I better return the one I just bought then :O

There were lots of good songs too so I feel pretty honored. I think PwnyBownz's song needs to be a runner up too though due to it's epicn-ess but congrats to everyone and THANKS!!

Congrats, Atomik. You deserve it.

I hope they make a E-CD of all the stuff from this contest, as it really was an eclectic collection. I know it would sell at least 100 copies.

Congratulations guys! I had such a great time going through all these songs at work last night. As Keanu Reeves said in the masterpiece Hard Ball, "I want you guys to take a good look at yourselves and feel proud. What I've learned from you is that really one of the most important things in life is showing up. I'm blown away by your ability to show up." And then the little kid died.

WTG hombre. It was truly the only other good song besides mine. If any of the staff there at Destructoid listened to 2112 religiously then I probably would've won. As it stands... They're not ready...

No big deal, I might as well have won considering we sleep in the same bed. Haha!

Fantastic job to all four of you. I propose "Sniff the Glove: The Destructoid Album". The title is completely original. It's not from Spinal Tap.

What?!? are you freaking serious? I can't beleive this.. this is crap. I thought the contest ended TONIGHT, because that is what you said!

posted on november 20th : http://www.destructoid.com/destructoid-theme-song-contest-the-end-is-nigh--55061.phtml

"On the other hand, you could put a lasting effort into submitting a song entry by 11:59 PM tomorrow".

I repeated posted YESTERDAY, NOVEMBER 20th.

this is really crap. I was working on a song AS we speak, looking up to see how we are supposed to enter our song when all the sudden i see this crap! I say that this is bull shit and i should be able to enter a song to be judged so i am given a fair chance.

Please reply to me telling me whether or not i will be able to enter a song, cause this really is REALLY huge crap.

@Frankula

My sincerest apologies Frankula. I had not realized that the timecode on that post was set on EST time, as I was at the time posting at PST on the west coast so it was still November 19th.

I'm very sorry that the correct due date was misinformed in that last post, however it was repeatedly mentioned that the contest ended on November 20th, the debut of Rock Band, on the other posts. You can blame me entirely, and I'm sorry there was a miscommunication. If you still have a song you want us to hear please feel free to e-mail to us.

Double comment, since the first it didn't seem very detailed..

GuitarAtomik's song was about the site itself, the forums, the community...EVERYTHING! It was unabashed, catchy praise of the site and everything it stood for.

Cosbytron's song WAS catchy, but it had very little to do with Destructoid besides the chorus. I'd actually sat half amused at the lyrics, and half bobbing my head. But it made me think more about all the games I've ever played and less about Destructoid itself.

However, as a theme for the site? They couldn't have made a better choice. Great stuff.
