It's f**king hot.For those of you who have never had the pleasure of visiting the beautiful Northwest, you may have visions of a place eternally clad in flannel, evergreen trees and grey skies. Oh, how I wish it were still so!
Apparently that
global warming thing that
Al Gore has his panties all in a bunch about has decided to attack me personally.
The current ambient temperature in Portland, Oregon is 85 degrees Fahrenheit. Mind you, it's 3:04AM.
It was 105 degrees here earlier in the day.
I may not be a scientist, or even a college graduate, or even a person who can count properly without removing his shoes, but even
I know that 105 is far too hot for humanity to properly survive. We'll all end up in underground burrows fighting the
Morlocks.
If only I had a giant penguin that I could slit open and crawl inside of ...
These people played games. I'm too sticky to care. Maybe you do.
Leigh Alexander:
Actually, trying to beat the God Challenges in God of War, Odin Sphere, Puzzle Quest and (STILL) Twilight Princess when I can be bothered to sit down for a while (which is rarely). Also indie game Within a Deep Forest, and Snow Drop, a H-game.
Oh yeah, and we did just get RE4 for Wii, so we'll probably play that all weekend.
Nex:
I finally broke down and, at the insistence of Mr. Linde, purchased Pac-Man Championship Edition. While I wish they would have let us play as Bison (or at least Vega) the inclusion of same-character versus matches is a huge draw.
Jim Sterling:
Very little, Mr. Mushnik. Mostly too busy with Gamers for Gaming (check it the bloody hell out, people), but I've naturally found time to squeeze a little action in. Been trying to do some Oblivion, though my Xbox worryingly was unable to read the disc like it had done with a now-unplayable N3. Aside from that, I've been playing through some Earth Defense Force 2017 which I'm now taking with me to Gamestation to see if they'll take it back - DO NOT WANT.
Colette Bennett:
I have been playing Puzzle Quest for a record breaking 3 weeks straight. I need a new game. Also I think I need a life.
Topher Cantler:
I've been playing Art Department Organization Force 2007, Pac-Man CE, Business Card Maker 4, and Forza 2.
Grim:
As far as 360 gaming in concerned, I've been playing the usual Gears of War, Crackdown, and Pac-Man CE . All the talk about Resident Evil 4 (Wii edition) has made me pull out the old Gamecube for some fun times. Oh, and I finally got a chance to play Psychonauts earlier this week on PC.
Gameboi:
I'm still having fun with Legacy of Kain: Defiance, and I've dabbled a bit in Kingdom Hearts II, as well as Vectorman. I never tire of great games from the past.
I'm also suffering through a real life game called the water table is extremely low around here from a lack of rain, and spending too much time under the house priming a thirsty pump. Precious gaming money is about to slip from my grasp. Oh ye evil game of life! I rebuke you.
Nick Chester:
I've been out of town most of the week, so I've been mostly playing Planet Puzzle League, since they won't let me take my Xbox 360 on planes.
David Houghton:
I've sadly had very little time for gaming this week with all the BBFC and Gamers For Gaimng stuff going on. I've put in a bit of time with Mario Strikers (Broken record, I know), Mario Kart DS and N, but that's about it.
Dick McVengeance:
I've been playing little bits of Red Steel, and some Resident Evil 4 for the GameCube. Considering I own it, and haven't beaten it yet, I see no urge to buy the Wii version, despite the leg-humpings of a Mr. Aaron Linde. Also, I've been playing a bunch of GURPS. I'll give respect to anyone who knows what the hell that is.
Faith:
Still trying to finish Touch Detective but wednesday night my DS died 3 minutes after I turned it on at work. I forgot to charge it, so I spend an hour playing Block Breaker Deluxe on my cellphone. How boring.
I'm still playing Twilight Princess and I started playing Rayman Raving Rabbids. I finally got my bunnies. DAHHHHHHH! *runs by with plunger*
Aaron Linde:
I'm having a grand old time playing through Resident Evil 4 for the 9th or 10th time on my Wii -- slaughtering villagers with well-timed headshots and grenades and such simply never gets old. I'm digesting the last few hours of Crush on the PSP and Shadowrun for forthcoming Destructoid reviews, and when that's through, I've got a date with Baten Kaitos on the 'Cube which I simply never got around to. That game is too damned pretty to be left unplayed.
Chad Concelmo:
I am hopelessly addicted to the awesomeness that is my new favorite game, Pac-Man Championship Edition. I also finally beat Rogue Galaxy (huzzah!) and am revisiting Super Mario 64 on the Virtual Console.
Dyson Grigsby:
I've been playing the fog is finally gone, so I can go outside again!, and Yes, I know about the RSS feed, stop asking. Between the time spent playing those two games, I've been playing a lot of Wii Sports and Super Paper Mario. I gave up on Odin Sphere, not because it wasn't good, but because it got repetitive reeeal quick.
Rev Anthony:
I gave up on Odin Sphere as well, for the same reasons Dyson mentioned. Other than that, I've been playing a lot of Urban Dead, some of The Specialists, and I'm using the HL2 Zombie Master mod to pass the time until Left 4 Dead comes out. Speaking of which, when the hell is Left 4 Dead coming out?
What have you kids been playing this week? If any of you say "in the sprinkler", I'm stabbing your face off.
lost planet- the new maps came out on the 21st, and they're HUGE it actually takes you 3-4 minutes go get to the other side of ruins and ice drop, and trying to find out where all the teleporters in lost technology go is nuts
i just teleported and accidently threw a gum grenade on the floor, so i rolled away, and not even a second later someone from the other team came through the same warp and detonated my grenade, it was awesome
and as for my ds game, its phantom hourglass, the game is really good, cant wait to play it in english to understand what they say
I find your lack of Workman... Disturbing.
Trace Memory (it was cheap!) and NSMB.
Not that i finished it. I got bored halfway through the Palace of Twilight and stopped playing.
I suppose i should finish it over the summer really.
Also, where is my Podtoid Nex?!
I know you have it!!! :P
Dick, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Other Strangeness is good enough for me. Gurps is for people alot more creative than I am. It's too, um, Universal.
I've also played a bit of Shining Force as it was recommended to me when I told someone "I LOVE TEH FIRE EMBLEM!." I only played the first mission but I'm already a little disappointed by the fact that the game chooses the order my characters attack in. I don't know if this is supposed to be some sort of tutorial or if it will continue throughout the entire game. I sure hope not.
I also played the first little bit of Tomb Raider Legend and Kingdom Hearts...they are on the backburner until Mercenaries is finished, though.
I want to trade this in, but I want at to least wait until the map packs and their prices are announced before I do so (theres still the possibility that they might be free. I want my 60 $ worth lol)
I actually dug out some old games out the corner of the closet this week and started to replay them. Xenogears & Okage mainly. I think I'll be playing those until I cave and by the Darkness which hopefully won't be until the end of July
And for the 3rd strait month Panzer Dragoon Orta wonders why its gone unplayed when half of gaming would kill to get their mitts on it.
I'm so inhumane
And to answer your question, yes... I actually "served" somebody with a Nintendo DS.
Darkness as soon as that mamma jamma comes out.
What Portland do you live in? I'm in SW, and it's raining and 55 degrees. Yesterday wasn't very warm, either (got to 71). Make sure you don't have your heater on...
Otherwise, spent most of last night getting very close to the end of .hack//INFECTION with a friend. The rest of my week has been filled with Mario Kart DS and Advance Wars.
Also, not a [i]video[i] game, but close enough, I'm playing UFS (Universal Fighting System). My character of choice is Cervantes, but he keeps getting the beatdown from this one Street Fighter III character I keep forgetting the name of. Damned cross-overs.
I'm still working my way through Super Paper Mario and need to get around to finishing the second half of Shadow of the Colossus.
"Also, I've been playing a bunch of GURPS."
ZOMG d20 system 4 life
Started ot get back into Pokemon Pearl though in the last day or so so i've been playing that.
Probably gonna rent The Darkness this week. I don't think it's purchase worthy at all, but it should be entertaining for a few days.
"hey, bulldog face"
Other than that, Puzzle Quest on the DS and yesterday I picked up Pitfall for the SNES from the flea market.
then again It sat there unplayed because I refused to turn my Wii on without that damn composite cable
When I finally got one, Zelda looked no better lol.
Um, I might’ve played a bit of the Warhawk beta here and there, and maybe some Calling All Cars, but mostly, I’ve been watching DVDs...since it’s the summer, I finally found the time to get into my four Futurama sets. Sadly, the first of the four Season Two discs is messed up...there’s something weird on the underside that looks like someone peeled a sticker off of the disc, yet there aren’t any scratches on either side of the disc. My plan is to bring the set in to Best Buy, claim it was given to me as a gift, and use their available-once-a-year-only-per-customer no-receipt exchange policy. I love you, Best Buy!
Also, I got SSX Blur today. I'ma play the absolute FUCK out of that this week! My God it's been so long since I've played a good snowboarding game, and Blur definitely fills that void.
I did take advantage of a sweet deal at Toys R Us.
It's buy 2 get 1 free week on ALL DS games, so I bought Planet Puzzle League, Clubhouse Games, and SimCity DS (Japanese tranny not included sadly).
I've also got a ton of MS points to burn through as well, so I'll be getting the Lumines levels later this week too. It's nice to have cash in the 'ol bank account.
While almost the same game, Okami always left me wanting to play it more, and I never got tired of it. And it wasn't any harder or easier, in my opinion. It was just paced a hell of a lot better (you don't have those hey-I-just-got-a-new-sword-move-crap-I'm-a-wolf-now moments) and frankly, there was always a reason to fight everything because you could always get something out of them -- I'd have sessions in Okami where I'd just still down and do nothing but beat up enemies and have fun. I think Zelda is the first open action/adventure game where I spend as much time as possible avoiding combat since I can get rupees and hearts far more reliably from just cutting down grass.
Grass, damn it.
But yeah. That, Virtual Fighter 5, and Crush.
