Destructoid's games of the week for 02/18/07: Ron's secret: revealed edition! photo

There has been a ton of speculation as of late regarding the secret held by Ron "Truncheon Nutria" Workman. People have been hounding those of us who know night and day, and honestly, it's become rather tiring. At the risk of losing a friend, confidant, and secret lover, I'm putting an end to all of this right now. He may have wanted you to wait until the Podtoid is released later today to find out, but I feel it's my duty as a total jerk to spoil his thunder and let you, my dear reader, know the truth behind Ron "Tazer Capybara" Workman.

Hit the jump for the big reveal.

Ron "Laserbeam Fruit Bat" Workman shot JR.

Now that that's out of the way, here's what the editors have been playing this week. At least, those of them clever enough to follow my trail of breadcrumbs into the forum;

Dick "Pepper Spray Gibbon" McVengeance:
I've been holed up inside of my room due to the horrible snow drifts that are outside. So, this has allowed me to...write my papers. I'm still not done with school work, but I've managed to play some Red Steel with friends and mock the living hell out of it. If you haven't played the game yet, please do so. You don't realize how bad it is until you've played it.

Nick "Scalpel Ferret" Brutal:
I've been playing Lumines Plus for the PS2 and it's done nothing but make me angry. Not because it's a bad game; it's not. Lumines is pretty great, no matter how you slice it. I'm angry because it's reminding me how much Xbox 360 owners got screwed when they purchased the Xbox Live Arcade version. Free skin/content packs for life, please.

Also, the wife and I are digging into God of War together, in anticipation of the sequel. I'm still playing the GBA import, Rhythm Tengoku, and wondering why it was never brought to America.

And Halo 3. Lots and lots of Halo 3.

Ron "Bazooka Trout" Workman:
Crackdown (fo shizzle), Fusion Frenzy 2 (Very underrated when playing with a group of friends), COD2 and Halo2(with Britini), & a ton of Xbox Live Arcade games. Street fighter 2, Mortal Kombat 3, Paperboy, Uno (w/Prosu and Mrs. Violence), Joust and more. A very special thanks goes out to Lila for hooking me up with one of the best Valentines day gifts of all... Video games.
P.S. If anyone sends me a message on XBL or a friend request, PLEASE explain who you are or how I know you.

Damn... I almost forgot. I UNBOXED MY WII FINALLY! The caps lock and excitement ends there sadly. I have only played Wii Bowling so far and it was a lot of fun. I just really expect more out of a gaming system. I can really see where this is a Party machine and not a gaming machine. Im really pissed at Nintendo for screwing their fans over. I am just not to blind to see it like a lot of folks. Viva Revolution! Wait, wasn't it going to be called that? lol

Nex "Chaingun Tyrannosaurus":
Lunar Knights. Yes, still. It beats the pants off of Diddy Kong Racing, even though DKR is one of the finest monkeys-riding-hovercraft simulators known to man.

Also, I finally picked up the PC version of F.E.A.R. As much as it's a stunning FPS, it is certainly not Halflife 2. It made me realize something, though, as I was sitting there capping people in the knees via mouse and keyboard, all those people who argue that FPS' can be done as well on a console as on a PC are out of their fucking minds.

There's no joke there. I really do despise them for being so stupid.

Robert "Cap Gun Cormorant" Summa:
I've been playing the "moving across the country to Los Angeles" game. I am now an expert Ikea assembler with a +10 bonus in hammering.

Oh, but the other day I did finally play a little Company of Heroes. I like when they say bad words. It's funny ... teehee. Also, I have been playing a little Ratchet and Clank on the PSP -- someone finally figured out how to make a game on the PSP.

Todd "What? Nex Gets To Make Up Editors Now?" Weiland:
Honestly, I'm a figment of Nex's imagination. I'm not sure how you expect me to be able to play video games, but since I have no thumbs, I haven't been.

So what have you guys been playing this last week? Oh, and knock yourselves out by making up witty MGS-style nicknames for yourselves as well.

Summa have you not played Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops or Vice City Stories? Outrun 2 is also good on PSP, I don't really like it on Xbox

I have played them, yes. Ratchet is the best designed game for the PSP.

Josh "Sex Machine Zero" Lanphear (that's me...) has been playing Hotel Dusk and Wii Play lately. I'm picking up Crackdown on Tuesday though so I can enjoy that orgasmic, car-throwing piece of supercop escapades.

I've actually been playing a lot of Halo 2. But not with Ron or Britini, 'cause I'm not cool enough.

Joey "Double Barrel" Buckets:

I've been working on Trauma Center for the Wii, and going back and finishing Scarface for the Xbox 180. I might play some old school RS3 today or Poker via the 180 and LIVE just for shits and giggles.

I've been "playing" Everyone Votes channel.

No really, right now that's all the Wii has going for it.

Nex, you should be happy. I went and picked up Lunar Knights yesterday. I would've grabbed any of the Boktai games if the local games store had some.

Ron, I don't know why you think Nintendo screwed anyone, I'm enjoying the heck out of the Wii. The Virtual Console will pay for the console itself a thousand times over.

Nintendo has had to go through a launch where no one's really supported them on 3rd party. As a result, no one's felt there's been anything to play outside of Zelda. And for the most part, the quality games so far have come from nintendo. Well, since the system is still selling out all over the country 3rd parties ARE going to have to take notice and are recognizing that these systems need games, and people will want to play these games on the Wii.

We're going to see a strong amount of 3rd party support by the end of the year.

That has been my honest hope--that developers will see $$$ and commit more to the Wii.

Actually, I've been playing a lot of Soldat now that someone brought it up in the forums. Used to play that game over LAN with friends.

Seeing the news on Manhunt 2 recently inspired me to gi find Manhunt for the Xbox (for $12). Gory ultra violence FTW!

Oh, I've had my Wii since launch, and so far I agree.

Dammit, I forgot again. The only new game I've played this week is DK racing. I ordered a new graphics card as well, so I'll probably try out some of the newer PC games.

Zach "An Officer and a Gentleman" Mayo (if anyone understands that reference, I'll be surprised) has been playing a lot SNEAK KING, forcing himself not the play the Crackdown Demo, a little Halo 2 here and there, and a little SSB on N64 for good measure.

Hotel Dusk for me. I'm in the basement and I keep dying. I suck, but I refuse to look it up. Wii bowling is always being played, as it WiiGolf. Zelda and Monkeyball await my thumbs after my graduation this semester.

I blab on about being a Nintendo Fanboy, and all I did this week was play Gears (I'm late to the party, settle down...) and work on achievements in other games. I'm JUST about done with Dead Rising playthrough #6 (I will NEVER tire of this game!).

Also been playing FFVI more, slowly this time, as if to savor. I got it last week, and I've JUST cleared the battle in Narshe.

I've determined that Lumines on the Xbox was crafted by Satan, not only because of micropayments, but also because of the unachievable achievements. Putting 6 of them under Time Attack is horrible! And I want more music packs. Q? ? Where's all the bonus content we got promised last year? Artist packs?

Lastly, I know a lot of my time this week will be sucked up by Crackdown, but I will FINALLY be finished working on a 6 month video editing project and I can guilt free fuck around for hours at a time instead of living with the guilt of dealing with this client AND procrastinating. Had to get that off of my chest. No one ever agree to help someone put their religious TV show on YouTube. ::yawn::

I played some Rainbow Six Vegas (as usual), and have been playing Gears of War with bunch of other Dtoiders. I even played a bit of Texas Hold 'Em, which I hadn't played in months. Oh yeah, and the demo for Crackdown - I can't fucking wait for that game.

and i bought Castlevania PoR. i have never touched another CV since SotN. although i knew the portable Cv were all rehashes of the SotN formula I have never touched one.

but i'll say this about PoR. either the Magic died with SotN, or this game fucking sucks. it's hard to tell at the moment cause im not that far into it
