Say what you want about this year's E3, but we've seen and played a bunch of great games this week. In fact, we were overwhelmed with all of the offerings, and narrowing down the selection to only one from all of the games in our 17 categories was pretty difficult.

You see, Hawken was amazing, Beyond: Two Souls was beautiful, and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is the most fun you'll ever have with a katana-wielding cyborg. Tomb Raider tells a story I've always wanted to hear, Dishonored turns stealth on its head, and Pikmin 3 is like a long-recurring dream finally coming true. But, even with as great as these all are, one stood above them this E3.

Destructoid is proud to award The Last of Us our Game of the Show award for E3 2012.

Show attendees never stopped talking about this game. Naughty Dog's post-apocalyptic setting, gritty survival story,  and the relationship between its two main characters, Joel and Ellie, have already made their way into the minds of gamers everywhere. This cross-country trip across a post-pandemic America looks to go far beyond their already excellent Uncharted series in both setting and gameplay, and we can't wait to see more of it.

Congratulations, Naughty Dog.

Can you tell the difference between Last of Us PS3 and PS4?

I can't. Okay, okay, there's definitely some extra clarity in the brickwork and people look a bit more yellow than pink. more

Last of Us: Ellie's voice actor almost got in a fight with the first Joel

Here's a fun bit of trivia: Ashley Johnson, Ellie in The Last of Us, almost got into a fight with one of the actors first considered for the role of Joel. A heated push during acting and subsequent push back almost led to fi...more

Cordycep snap: Last of Us PS4 photo mode detailed

I already wrote about how much I loved the idea behind inFamous: Second Son's photo mode and I'm glad to see the trend continuing, even if it's an obvious marketing thing. Taking cool pictures is fun. Plus, in that article I made a great Ansel Adams Family joke. This video explains how to go about snapping shots in The Last of Us' PS4 remaster. more

Sony: 'Huge portion' of PS4 owners never played The Last of Us

It's easy to get up in word arms -- "milking," "cash grab" -- about re-releases, but I am generally for them. No one is saying you have to buy Final Fantasy IV again, but a lot of people still haven't played it. No one w...more
