Destructoid rocks the first annual Wiimbledon (well, sort of)
Topher Cantler06.25.2007 10:11 (439 day(s) ago) 19 comments

This past Saturday, .Tiff, Analog Pidgin, Phist and I headed out to Barcade in Brooklyn, NY to check out the first annual Wiimbledon event. Also to drink lots of reasonably priced microbrews, as evidenced by my failure to beat the high score on the bar's Galaga cabinet. Quite a few players stepped onto the "court" hoping to take home a new Wii as first prize, and as you'll see in the video, some of these guys are serious. I was not one of them.

Who knew there were so many techniques for friggin' Wii Sports Tennis? Obviously some guy in a Luigi outfit, sans moustache. Also worth noting is that .Tiff kicked quite a bit of ass in her match, bear suits drastically decrease your ability to hear, and Pidge has one of the coolest dogs I've ever met, although that isn't in the video. Still awesome, however.

[Mad props to Dtoid Graphic Designer Phist for his sweet video, which iMovie felt the need to make all muddy, because it is evil.]

Loved seeing that first guy lose--it's hard to imagine someone looking like they were having any less fun at an intrinsically fun event. He's not from destructoid, is he?

What an awesome tournament. Sorry I couldn't win it for dtoid. Seriously, though, that guy from geekanerd was really good. And thanks for still <3ing me, dtoid. I thought that you were just gonna dump me for that Luigi dude. I mean, I would have done it if I were you.

G / Gameslap, thanks for showin love. Keep in touch.

Ramiro, your second "also cocks" was amazing (but I screwed up the editing, sorry). Destructoid DS game, pull it from your magic gamemaker's hat now?!!!

Pidge called the shots in the scene-ster music department. Tiff and Topher, we forgot to group leg hump.
