In no way is that a bad thing, it's just something that's stale. While pretty as hell, DMC4 did have that 'been there, done that' feel to it.
Last week I had the chance to pick this up, or No More Heroes. I think it's obvious what I ended up purchases. To me, DMC4 seems like a buy when it's discounted/a definite rental.
But nice review Jim, very insightful.
Either way, I'll probably end up renting it. I just don't see enough content in it to warrant 60 bucks when I could play through all the main content within a rental period.
Although, I felt that the new weapons were a let down, and the devil bringer was awesome.
Also,
First I whip it out!
Then I thrust it!
With great force!
Every angle!
It penetrates!
Until!
With great strength!
I ram it in!
In the end...
We are all satisfied....

Yeah, that's the best part of the whole thing.
give me a yell, Capcom.
It's not like the dialogue in DMC could get any worse anyway, they might as well go the whole hog ;)
(SPOILERS)
Non-violent resistance= Use the Aegis Shield, taunts and dodges.
Save the puppet from the Chimaeras=Use the Aegis Shield to pick it up and carry it away from them. Then turn and massacre them for the frustration before you figured it out.
The disappearing platforms=Just kill the Mestiphos for solid ground, then use the Pandora missile platform and fly to your destination.
Unless you all know something I dont know?
That is correct, you can only load a mission and start from the beginning. However you do keep any red souls and pride souls you earn during a mission when you quit, retry or restart a mission.
I don't know what it is about the series, but I just love how fucking over-the-top everything is. The dialogue, story, characters, setting, etc. just baffles me.
Yet its also what I love about the series, I just let it play like some crazy scenario I might have imagined as a cracked-out child.
So far I really like the presentation of DMC4, and I'm digging Nero, but I'm a little nervous to play Dante because its been awhile.
Overall DMC just makes me feel like a total badass, and as long as it doesn't falter in delivering that I'm 100% satisfied.
I bought it and I like it alot. I was never really a HUGE fan of the series. I liked the original, 2 was meh and 3 was good too but something about it just didn't grab me. But I like this one alot, maybe since it feels a bit different considering you don't start off as Dante? Who knows, one thing's for sure though, I don't feel like I wasted my money! :D
Ontop of that, I thought fighting Dante was fun as hell.
That and Dante is practically a cut and paste from DMC3, I do like his new personality though, much better than drunken frat boy Dante from DMC3. I also liked how the difficulties have re-tooled into to be like DMC1, they where just annoying in DMC3 with the DTing enemies and minimal changes other than enemies that took a 1,000 slashes to kill.
maybe it was just me...
Also, I've never paid attention to the series before, but this one is piquing my interest.
Also, one of the coolest moments of the game has to be when Devil-Triggered Nero whips out the Final Atomic Buster on an Alto Angelo.
It seems to me like Capcom introduced the arm to simplify things a bit, for the people who'd find Dante's styles hard to handle. (On that note, where's my quicksilver, bitches?!) I've seen other forum threads moaning about [minor spoiler incoming] fighting bosses 3 times but I think that's invalid - you should be used to it by now, happens in all the DMC games. Besides, I like it, getting to go back and knowing exactly how to kick their asses - it's a measure of your skill and survivability!
The only thing that did piss me off about the game was the stupid game room game. With the dice. If someone knows any way of making it non-random, please please please please tell me. Enough of the econstant fighting already!
