Destructoid Poll: Influence the name of this sports game today! photo

And now for something completely different!  In my Mega Happy Hudson Weekend GET! Trilogy I demo'd an upcoming game similar to Wii Sports in Japan which featured activities like Kart Racing, Beach Volleyball, Badminton, and 7 other alternative events. I overheard the marketing guys talking about localizing the name from its Japanese name to something else when it hits the states and offered the brains of the Destructoid Community to help them choose ... and they're totally letting me get away with this.  So! With permission from Japan and the blessing of John (who is presently in the way to Thailand to have a funner weekend than all of us), here's your chance to determine the future name of this game. Here's the skinny:

Here’s your chance to name a game!  We have an incredibly fun sports game coming out but don’t know what to call it.  We need your help!  Let us know what you think is the best choice.

  • Sports Park
  • Deca Sports
  • World Sports Competition
  • Sports Party
  • We <3 Sports
Hit the jump for details on how to get your 2 cents in.

To participate click here to place your vote on our forum (and boost our fancy graph) or simply post a comment below with your pick and we'll tally together all the entries on the 20th.

You can also go straight to the horse's mouth and vote directly on their site. Here's more info from the press release:

You can experience intense competition across 10 different sporting events. Easy-to-pick up and play controls will make an athlete out of any one of your friends.  Smash, spike and smoke other players in events like Badminton, Beach Volleyball, and even Kart Racing. The spirit of sports has never felt this good.  Fully utilizing the Wii mote and Nunchuck’s controllers, the game holds nothing back from players feeling the adrenaline of these exciting sports games.

The game supports up to 4 people and has a number of different multi player modes.  As is the case in most of Hudson’s games, multiplayer sets this game apart from the rest of the pack.  Whether you’re up against the league championship or whether you have a bunch of friends over, this is the game to have.
I already know what some of you are going to say ... what if you think all of the above suck and you've got a brilliant alternative? Drop it in the comments and I'll pass it along.  I believe Paris Hilton's Please Die in a fire Olympics is already registered, so don't vote that one up.

Well, since my first choice, Bukkake Rape Bonanza Extreme, isn't on the list, I'll have to go with one of the ones on the list. In all honesty though, I don't really like any of the choices.

Those are the most generic names I’ve ever heard, so I’m going to go with Deca Sports just because it sounds less bland than the others (but only slightly so).

WII <3 Sports would be a much more suitable title

"We <3 Sports", or "Wii <3 Sports" as I think it should be named, is hilarious on a roflcopter level but will never make it onto actual shelves. So I'm going with Deca Sports

I vote for We <3 Sports, or Wii <3 Sports, which ever ends up being the choice. =)

Yeah, they're all pretty generic, but I'm going with Deca Sports so they don't have to change it too much from their original Japanese name, if it becomes a franchise. Sports Party is probably the most generic, and I'm pretty sure as cute as We <3 Sports is, it'd probably lead to a lawsuit.

Sports Park definately.

A title seemingly aimed at a young audience, where do kids go to have fun when they're not in front of their console > The Park - to play sports :) Ding!

If you're going to go with Wii <3 Sports, you might as well suggest "Wii can has Sports?" or something. that shit'll never fly. My vote goes to...Super Cum Blast

Why is "We <3 Sports" so unlikely? The sequel to Katamari Damacy was officially titled "We <3 Katamari". How is this different?

Deca Sports is terrible. Nobody understands math in America. I can assure you nobody that would buy the game knows "deca" means ten. And besides, essentially calling it "Ten Sports" is really dumb.

Thusly I'd go with Sports Park... I don't know why, just sounds nice.

The cute title fits the art style of the game; the others are too generic. Even if it was a joke title or whatever.
