Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

Hey Dtoiders! I'm happy to announce that we have a PC sponsor again (Intel), so we have the opportunity to run a few PC-related contests. Instead of coming up with random prizes to give away we're curious as to what you guys actually need or are lusting after irrationally already. Think of this as a dynsfunctional letter to Santa Claus, as I may get exactly what you want ... but some other guy you know may end up stealing from you.  The big question is do you want good odds at winning smaller prizes or lower odds at a big prize?

So! What kind of prizes should we try to make happen?  One big PC to one winner or a crate full of PC games to multiple winners?  Should we give away a ton of video cards -- and should they be various mid-range cards or a fewer brutally fast cards that nobody in their right mind would buy?  Does anyone care about big hard drives, ram, and stuff like that as prizes or are commercial products like high-end laser mice and low-latency network cards a better prize? Your opinion will help shape what we end up doing in November. Please drop your in the poll and let us know.

As always, thanks so much for reading Destructoid -- we're happy to give back every chance we get!  Don't forget to get your entry in to win a PlayStation 3, too! Ho Ho Ho!

Why would you vote not in the "higher chance to win" vote?

People are weird sometimes. Your chances of winning that obscene computer at the end of the month is less than the lottery probably.

Greedy kids.

I could use all that at anytime of the day, I could need any of it.

I would also like to see people give way some big ass NAS boxes.

2 comments but 85 Votes..... I don't think you should give the community anything. All they do is take take take.

....but if you want you could get me a Pony! I'll name her princess & ride her everyday!

I voted for the Graphic Cards/Processors

While a new computer would be nice, I'm definitely voting for video cards, cause mine is kind of crappy. The rest of my computer is pretty decent for being a few years old, so all I really need is a nice new video card to make me actually want to play games on my computer.

Lots of video cards, please!

How about a handful of mid-range cards and CPUs and like one or two high-end ones as a grand prize.

I voted for one big obscene computer, because my issue is not that I need a new video card, it's that I need a desktop PC if I were to do any gaming on it.

I voted for one big obscene computer because I would need a PC to play games on -- I'm a Mac user.

However, what I really want to win is a bowl of Colette's Taco Soup!!

We're going to do something totally different this year. We proposed some online tournaments and getting involved in feedback for their gaming product lines. We can do some neat stuff now that I'm not traveling around like a maniac for the rest of the year!

Anyway, don't do the one obscene PC thing, that will only bring drama, unless the winner is Dexter, in that case I'm up for it :).

I vote for borrowing Chad for a night. I've been wanting to try some terrible NES games and nobody around here is stupid enough to fall for it. I'm pretty sure he'd be ecstatic in trying to figure out how the hell does one play Bokosuka Wars, or to give Zombie Nation a serious try.

Oh man, if you'd ask me a couple of months ago I would have said a big, new, fuck-off PC. But I've just bought one. So a mix of hardware would be nice for some upgrades. Oh and make it available to non-US Dtoid faithful.

Please.

I got it,

Give stuff to set up Tripple GPU SLI.

and or ATI crossfire with a 4870 X2 Giving a PC 4 GPUs for max rendering power.

2 or 3 gpu sets.

the ultimate gpu set ups.

If i won 1 GPU it would not do my current PC anygood since I use Crossfire or sli in my Pc's and i need at least 2 of them.

so IF I won I would have to buy another one my self or run it single...but really who wants to run just 1 GPU?

Sometimes they can't do anything with them videocards, like me I have an old dell celeron d computer. Its used for playing games such as the original counterstrike and starcraft -_-. Anyway I can't even install any new hardwares and tats why I voted for that one winner thing.

I vote for cheaper bits with more chance of winning them. Because, you dont need absolute top of the line for anything (even Crysis runs alright and still looks amazing on 'high' settings). There are some really good cheap parts available that would still make a big difference to lots of people, allowing them to run new pc games properly again.

I can't do shit with most components or games, since I'm on a laptop. So, I voted for the PC. It'd be rad if there were 2nd/3rd/4th/whatever prizes, though. I could definitely use an external hard drive, or a USB flash drive or whatever.

On second thought, just send money and food. And love. *fetal position* *puppy-dog face*

I think individual components ain't so great an idea, most of dtoid seems to be... erm, non-technical. Opening up their case alone would be a monumental task, let alone screwing it in an expansion slot and installing drivers.

I'd say fit as many budget PCs- say, something good enough for Source- in as the prive budget allows. A small handful of $500 models or something. I'll build 'em for you. :P

Sharpless' idea for an external hard drive is pretty good too, actually.

Of course, I can't actually vote on this because I can't find this poll of yours. @_@
