If you tuned in for yesterday's live stream, then you know by now that we reached our goal of $5,000 for our CharityWater campaign! My heart is still beaming from yesterday's accomplishments. Then again, that could be the 4Loko. This morning was painful, let me put it that way.
Bad decisions notwithstanding, we can't thank you all enough for tuning in to the stream and donating money. We appreciate it more than you know.
So in light of yesterday's achievements, Max and I will be hosting Hangovertoid today, in which we horrifyingly recall the events of yesterday's live stream. We also chat a little bit about Dead Space 2's Hard Core mode and the possibility for a new Dead Space movie. Max also gushes over the new Awakened game, while I dish the dirt on The Blocks Cometh's newest playable character! (Hint: It starts with 'Mr.' and ends with 'Destructoid'.) I also take advantage of the slow news day by talking about all the cool new stuff that's been happening on our Minecraft server lately.

That was pretty weak, guys. That's not your server.
Now, I completely acknowledge that it started off as an offshoot of your server after it puked. I also completely realize 95% of the players were either regs on your server or looking for what they thought was your server. Initially I fired it up to give myself and the other regulars something to do during the downtime, which now seems to be indefinite.
But that was still a bit low. Destructoid had nothing to do with setting up that server, nothing to do with keeping it running, nothing to do with paying for it, and had very little to do with the building of all them cool thingies. The real Destructoid server has been completely neglected for the last month, and I'm not even entirely sure it's still running.
I'm not going to make a huge stink about this, but yeah that irked me a bit. And the plug is nice, albeit indirect and a bit misleading.
I've said this before and I'll say it again - that server's not running so I can play god or have some e-ego trip. If you'd like that server to be the official Destructoid server I'm completely ok with that. If you want to re-direct minecraft.destructoid.com to it feel free, I'll give you the address. So long as you guys are willing to help pay for the server I've got no problem turning over console access where necessary as well.
Oh, one more thing: I'm trying to say I was looking for an "OMG USURER'S SERVER" plug. Not at all. I'd have had no issue whatsoever if you had called it the 'Destrouctoid fan-made server' or some such thing. The blanket statement is what's bugging me, and the preview without permission/letting anyone know to a vastly lesser degree, nothing else.
Did someone copy and paste the list of names from the charity water site? Because my name pops up like 5 times in that list in the credits. Busted! Anyway, great job with hosting the live stream, and well done to everyone who donated! Awesome stuff.
I may be rarely on Usurer's server, but that guy has done a great deal of work and awesomeness to give, and really deserves all the credit for his server. The Dtoid server is down and he stepped up to the plate.
I'm agreeing with Drybones, I have no idea what's happening with the dtoid server, I have inquired many times and nothing, It's badly neglected. Usurer's server is the best we have, and it's coming along nicely. I'm sure this was totally accidental, but a little clarification as to what's going on would be awesome.
The server has near on 1000 people whitelisted, I know because I whitelisted a good chunk, and to have it suddenly go down without explanation is a kick in the face to the regulars.
As per the minecraft server. It is an easy mistake to make if you haven't been on for a while, like Tara. However, someone had to take those pictures, and fairly recently if they got the Pac-Man board. So someone knew what was going on. Which is to say, somewhere between prep and air, someone dropped the ball. Which doesn't look very good for the show. This may be video game journalism, for whatever connotation that may entail, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't check your sources.
I just want people to know that Usurer has been paying out of his own pocket to have the Minecraft server we are currently playing on. It is not cheap either. So make sure to give the guy some love, he fully deserves credit for what you saw there.

I caught the tail-end of the live stream and meant to donate then but I had no money until today. Will take a look at my balance and see what I can dig up for a wonderfully good cause :). Out of curiosity, are you guys still doing the drawing thing? That'd be neat. Does it matter that I'm in Canada?
@Usurer - So sorry for the confusion. We were sent an e-mail with a bunch of screenshots and the subject line "Your Minecraft server is awesome, and you need to let the people know." I assumed the official Destructoid Minecraft server had been reinstated, but didn't double check and I apologize for that. I'll amend it on tomorrow's show.
As for the Dtoid server, it has been down because the mod we use (which is needed for a whitelist) gets rendered unusable every time Notch makes an update. Unfortunately, if we don't have a whitelist there's no point to playing because everything gets griefed overnight. It's a sticky situation but one that is unfortunately out of our control.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
