Destructoid interview: Burnout Paradise edition

After spending a long day at Electronic Arts, Ron Workman got a chance to sit down with Product Manager Derek Andersen. Once the in-depth discussion about the ethics of pushing innocent vehicles into your opponents to gain the lead was out of the way, Ron used this opportunity to interview him about the upcoming installment of the Burnout series, Burnout Paradise.

Be sure to checkout the full interview and find out why the newest addition to the Burnout family should make it to your home console.

Currently, there is a demo available on Xbox Live, and the full game will be available January 22.

I'm a huge fan of the Burnout games, but I'm not sold on them blurring the line between this and their Underground games.

Having to ride around a vast city looking for my next race? Come on, EA! That's the reason I hated Underground 2. Why tinker with Burnout's winning formula?

@Quest

I'm sure Husky just overlooked it, and it wasn't intentional. Most the staff, if not all, give Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo a fair shake. Sure they've all pissed me off on occasion, but I love all three.

It was, just an oversight, I used the 360 demo so it threw me off, completely unintentional

Actually, I take that back. Seeing Ron interview people with a raging boner and have him put in position where the person being interviewed can't help but see it but trying to ignore it while Ron asks probing questions would be hilarious.

It's got the Mull-tie player!

Dude, Chuck Norris wishes he had your beard! Totally awesome job man! Your constant smile was almost scary. I got to sit down and chat with a creator of games from EA a few times, funny thing is that he is my girlfriends cousins husband.

Youtube can't handle the awesomeness of the clip, too much good in a single video!

I dont understand why people bitch when a game tries to update and improve.

They cant just keep making the same game over and over. (although they do)

Then when they make a game thats too similar to its predecessor people still bitch saying, "its a glorified expansion pack".

No one is perfect, and either is any game. But as long as these developers are trying to do new things we should be happy.

Im new to burnout but imo The demo for this game is better than Burnout Revenge was. (revenge was my first bo game)

anywhoo.

@Hitogoroshi; Yeah I had that feeling too, evidently he plays basketball as well

@mix; Wow, thanks for the feedback!

@big Filth; Yeah, I know what you're talking about. After getting tired of defending Halo 3 with all of the new features they implimented, I simply resort to explaining how it's part of a series, and there's no reason to expect an entire new plot line - But I feel your pain

ok so why .. PS3 users still cannot pu their PSN name on Dtoid profil .... you can put xbl and Mii account ... yeah Mii account like someboy would mind about that ishhh ... but no place for PS3 users ... i'm not the first talking about this

No worries dude. I'm just glad that you 2 guys weren't full of each other stating how crazy awesome the game was while the camera pans in on your beard and face for extreme close ups! It was a true interview.

I played the demo and it was fun, and I found it better than Burnout Extreme. The only thing I HATE about the new Burn Out's is the lame, lame, lame commentator/radio station, I feel embarrassed when they speak.

You know that does drive me mad. the demo is the worst because sometimes he stops you and forces you to listen.

As far as considering PS3 for downloads again I apologize. It has nothing to do with me being bias... just an honest mistake. There is no option for wii codes or ps3 names because this site was coded before they were released and although it's constantly getting updated with new features they just haven't been added yet.

I was stoked for this game but after I played the demo I was left with 2 impressions.

1. It looks great. Crashes, the environment, everything, awesome.

2. Open world sucks ass. And this is what killed it for me. It's confusing and it leaves too much room for error. A wrong turn can mean you lose. I much prefer the straightforward design of the previous titles where all you had to do was focus on going fast and knocking out your opponents.

You know dv8 I have the same feeling.

I've never been a fan of open world racing, ever, it's just too hectic. But I do look foreword to getting to know this world. It seems a lot more open-world capable than others. Not to mention exploring can be done online
