The monstrous abomination that is Call of Duty had NO hype after that shit was released! Is it not an accomplishment to still have hype weeks after the game has come out? Honestly, there's just no pleasing some people.

yay, congrats to Skyrim, and too much publicity and hype hurts from some so its normal for people getting sick of it when Skyrim wins every game of the year award in this year. But when its well deserved I like, so i'm more than happy that Skyrim won, and awesome for Serious Sam got the second place, makes me wonder how many PC players we got here on Dtoid

Portal 2 is a gem of a game if you enjoy a good narrative. Really fun co-op, too.
Keep in mind that it's a puzzle-based shooter, though. No chainsaw melees or UAVs in sight :)

If only more than 13 people had bought Rayman: Origins, that shit would totally be in there. Got my vote. I'm also happy to see Skyrim win, even though it wasn't exacly a massive surprise.

I haven't played Skyrim yet, but my dad seems to be enjoying it. I want to play it, but Rayman Origins, Phoenix Wright Justice for All, and Legend of Zelda The Minish Cap are keeping me busy.

DARK SOULS > Skyrim

Morrowind a game that came out almost a decade ago is still being played and modded till this day. As for portal 2, while I love that game it is a game that I can't really play more than once and enjoy considering the lack of challenge isn't there anymore.

Skyrim's no surprise, it's well deserved, as well as the other games. Serious Sam on the other hand, totally didn't see that coming. Based on that, I conclude two things: A) people are tired of the realistic military first person shooters that have flooded the FPS genre for the last few years and B) Serious Sam 3 is a really good game.

I love Skyrim. But the fact that it won comes as a big DUH. Instead, what Destructoid needs to do is just make a news entry that Skyrim wins everything, and stop beating around the bush in various Game of the (Insert Category Here) awards.

That's what I was going to say. I still play Morrowind. And just recently I was playing Daggerfall, which is 15 fucking years old. So, I don't think Skyrim will just fade from memory anytime soon.

I wish you hipsters would quit wishing for the downfall of Skyrim. Just give the game credit for a lot of hard work, even if it isn't your favorite. It was a vote.
Skyrim probably deserves GOTY, since it hits the right spot for so many people.
But the Game of My Heart goes to Dark Souls. It's been months, and I still get pumped to try out new builds and weapon types, or when an invader drops into my game at the exact worst moment, or when I decide to sunbro assist on a boss and get thankful messages when we emerge victorious. Seriously just an all-around amazing title.

Eh, I don't think this should have won until it stops being broken. But whatever, it's still a good game from what I hear. My vote was still for Dead Space 2.
