A gamer meetup calendar in South Florida? Bwahaha! Madness!
Seriously -- growing up as a gamer in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area sucked royal nads because, with the exception of the Nintendo World Tour of 1992, nobody ever comes here. Ever. It blows. I figure that if anyone's going to do anything for gaming down here it may as well start with us. If you are in the South Florida area, we're gonna try to make up for lost time with the help of Gamertag Radio, SFX-360, and R3YSGAMEDAY to host a near-monthly meetup around the city. Here's what we're up to:
OCTOBER 25: SFX-360 is hosting Guitar Hero III Rockaween! Join us at the Inner Circle in Coral Springs at 8pm for a rock-out contest and costume contest featuring a live DJ and full liquor bar, sponsored by The ECA, Red Octane, Bawls, and Turtle Beach.
NOVEMBER 21: The first official Destructoid Miami NARP! Join us at FIU South Miami for a Friday of non-stop all-ages tournament gaming for prizes and bragging rights, co-hosted by the FIU film group Anything Goes Anime.
FEBRUARY 21: Gamertag Radio celebrates its fourth annual Community Vibes event, featuring gaming, prizes, and hip-hop recording artists at Club Ecco.
See you around town! Ironically, Jim Sterling, Nick Chester, and Dale North are leaving for Tokyo this week to bring you live in-depth coverage from the Tokyo Game Show. Destructoid: A failure to sit still since 2006.
