Destination Arcade: A new, smarter way to find XBLA games photo

Few of us could have predicted how crazy successful Xbox LIVE content -- downloadable games, movies, crap for your Avatar, etc. -- would become. I mean, Microsoft had to completely revamp the Xbox 360 dashboard interface to make browsing the storefront not so overwhelming.

It's still an issue, but the "New Xbox Experience" was a step in the right direction. They're taking it one step further, Major Nelson tells us, with an alternative way to dig through the ever-expanding Xbox LIVE Arcade catalog: Destination Arcade.

Going live next Wednesday, this new browser will feature better sorting options, a recommendation system, and perhaps most importantly, a feed displaying what's on sale and what games were released recently. That remains one of the biggest issues right now, so it's nice to see Microsoft address it.

When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied: "bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways. It's a trap, they're just trying to control our minds.

We know Microsoft. We all do.

XBLA just needs to copy iTunes' rating system.

If a game is 3 stars, I want to know why it's 3 stars. iTunes user reviews will tell me exactly what's wrong with a game, and if it doesn't bother me, I buy it.

The PSN just needs to get off its ass and have any of these features! A 100% game to demo ratio is the first step.

That sounds pretty damn cool. Now they need something like this for the indie games.

I (and I'm sure many small developers) would definitely appreciate this. Its sometimes easy to miss new stuff since there's SO much content. Some organization is definitely welcome.

Also, it's US-only for now, however, I'm sure that has more to do with localization(changing ESRB to PEGI, etc.) Hold tight rest-of-the-world.

@smurfee mcgee: No kidding. I've browsed through the "indie" games but after the third vibration massage game, I promptly get the hell out if there.

Am I the only one that never looks through these because I really don't feel like buying Microsoft points?

PS3 has been doing this since last year.

The PS Store you see and the PS Store I see must be very, very different.

Huh, on one hand I'm pleased because a service I'm paying for is making itself more user-friendly. I always like when things that take my money try to make me happy; its the consumer in me. On the other hand, however, I see XBOX Live slowly becoming as easy to use as Steam. My wallet is currently hiding under the bloody fucking couch just in case I have to deal with two download services equally as great. Thankfully I don't have to worry about Microsoft being as deal-savvy as Valve or I'd well and truly be fucked. Hold on, my credit card is the bathroom with a knife, candles, and a Nazareth cd. BRB.

I already have Snoopy Flying Ace and Puzzle Quest 2... I have no need for more arcade games.

Until Crazy Taxi...

I've imagined a service like Last.fm for game recommendations instead of music artists before... Maybe this will be similar.

I'd really like being able to pick out the good games from amongst the shitty ones. I hope this will work with the indie games too.

" XBLA just needs to copy iTunes' rating system. "

iTunes is the biggest cluster fuck ever created, it's impossible to separate the wheat from the chaff.

The modern tag heuer carrera
comes housed in a black plastic case with stainless steel lugs at each side. The black
wristband is nicely crafted from leather, and in case you plan on banging your new watch
around a bit, the display is protected by a durable, scratch-resistant mineral crystal
face.
