Denis Dyack: Too Human will be ready soon, for real this time photo

To some, the latest entry in Denis Dyack's blog might not seem all that newsworthy: Too Human for the Xbox 360 is all but complete. Then again, we're talking about the first entry in a three-part trilogy that's been the talk of gaming circles since the PSone days. Would it or would it not see the light of day... someday? Well according to Denis, the light looks bright -- and that day is very soon:

"I have logged my last polish bug today listening to Machine Gun by Portishead and writing this blog. There are only two known rare crash bugs still left in the game. I personally have not seen the game crash in the last four to five weeks, and have been playing through it constantly. Once we fix these rare bugs, we will start to prepare 'Release Candidate' for RTX (gold master disc) approval - this is likely just days away."

Forget about commenting on whether or not Too Human will live up to the hype that's been building for several years -- I'm more concerned (more like impressed) with Dyack's mention of the game not crashing in the last five weeks. In this day and age of endless patches for our consoles, it's sometimes questionable as to whether or not developers even care about faulty code anymore. Guess we'll have to take the "wait and see" approach, hope that all those years of polish and planning have finally paid off -- and that Too Human won't have us anticipating an update (like a lot of other games), rather than a planned sequel.

[Via IGN -- Thanks, Justin

I was pretty interested in this game back when I read about it in an issue of EGM a long while ago. Since then though, my interest has been waning since the game lost the whole "cyberpunk" vibe to it.

People that feel the need to mention what they listened to while doing crap scare me.

At least he didn't mention he made the game while listening to MMMbop the entire time. That would not bode well

Sweet. Maybe I'll be done with GTA by the time it hits. :)

I like to mention what I was listening to because it keeps my mind off the voices in my head. They're cruel.

I would like to express my cautious enthusiasm. I enjoyed the heck out of Mass Effect with the bugs it had though, so we'll see.

If he's actually talking about the last few bugs, I think we're okay. From what I remember, BioWare didn't really discuss the performance of Mass Effect before it came out. I wouldn't worry that much.

I remain skeptical of a game that has gone through 2 generations of change, and has been in development longer than my working career, although I will read reviews with a partially open mind.

Not crashing! Where do they come up with these innovative ideas.
I love the bonus content the developers put in games now days, they have every right to brag about it.

Hey, at least they're polishing it. Unlike that other big-name publisher who throws out big names only to have them crash and send in the corrective patches weeks later. Game development shouldn't be like that. Stick to new stuff that expands the game for your DLC's.

i'm excited. maybe not as excited as, say, 2 years ago, but i'm still excited.

maybe Jessie Spano said it best:

"I'm so excited... I'm so exciteeeed!... I'm so... SCARED!"

Put it this way, I only heard of Too Human last year and by then the "anti-hype" feeling was already underway. I can't say I'm looking forward to it (I've got about a dozen games I want to play more than Too Human), but at the same time I don't really want to see it fail (no more than I want to see any game fail). It's got a co-op mode, the background looks really cool and it maybe a purchase down the line. Still I'd like them to stop with the "Goblin-man" bollocks in their developer diary videos.

I sincerely hope this doesn't suck. It sounds like it could be a killer if done properly.

Shit! I wasn't in before the, "I think this game isn't fun even though I haven't played it" comments.

Oh, darn. Maybe next time.

It will still have some bugs. It's just a fact that their team of testers cannot compare to the full force of the people on the Internet. Somebody will find some bug that was overlooked, and then everybody will duplicate it.

Hopefully this is a decent enough ARPG to tide me over until Sacred 2, which to my pleasant surprise looks to be shaping up better than I would have hoped for.
