Demon's Souls wiki needs your input photo

Today marks the launch of Demon's Souls, the PS3-exclusive action RPG with an unnecessary apostrophe that is busting people's balls. This game is the kind of game that needs a wiki, so Atlus has started one up and is looking for your additions to it.

"Demon's Souls is a game of shared learning, a game that engenders community and cooperation," stated Robyn Mukai, Marketing Manager for Atlus. "What better way to meet those ends than to host a community-driven information resource on the game's official website?"

Thanks for that, Atlus. But where was that when I was playing the early review copies?

They continue: "The challenges that lie ahead in the Kingdom of Boletaria will be easier to overcome if we all work together, so we're asking anyone with something to contribute to please come forth, create an entry or expand an existing one, and join the effort to deliver the Kingdom of Boletaria from its terrible curse!"

I know that a lot of you have already been helpful in passing tips to me on how to succeed in Demon's Souls. Thanks for that. If you'd like to share with the rest of the world, get to it.

Mine should arrive tomorrow, but I won't be home so I bet I'll have to leave a signed note on the door and get it on Thursday. I'm excited to get cracking on this one!

"If only my copy would arrive already."

IF ONLY MINE WOULD SHIP.

From pics, the strategy guide looks meaty, so it might take a while (I think).

Unless someone decides to copypasta the strategy guide.

Yes, you can also copypasta from the wikidot wiki. They'll be happy you did!

Yeah, it's great and all to have an official wiki, but there has been an amazing wiki around for months that Deny Everything already mentioned. And I wondered why the official one was so devoid of info.

Oh, and best PS3 game to date. :-)

@People who think this wiki is new
For the time being, the import wiki is a GREAT resource if you're stuck

Ya already a wiki out there. Kinda small but serves the point. Also just youtube videos if you really need help on shit. There is not always one way to kill something.

the strategy guide that comes with it is actually NOT meaty. and i didn't get the artbook and audio CD with mine, but i don't particularly care i guess. maybe they just forgot to give it to me, i didn't ask about it.

still the guide is not bad, just don't expect to be wowed. i thought there would be maps, but there aren't. the online stuff is better, but i hate having to lug my laptop around with me, so the booklet is convenient for that.

the controls are silky smooth. when i saw videos i thought it'd be clunky, but it's got this real nice sense of finesse. they should demo the tutorial area. lol. nothing like the actual game, but it does give you a good sense of the controls.

oh and there are maps at the 1up.mycheats page i believe. I reeally was hoping maps in the strategy book... disappointing.

My copy is taunting me from the safety of my desk. Last night I was playing a bit of King's Field 4 to get myself prepped for the face raping.

The apostrophe isn't unnecessary, the souls belong to the demons! Although I think it should be after the s, since the souls belong to more than one demon.

As for the strategy guide, I think it's pretty awesome. It's not detailed as far as the walkthrough goes, but there are tons of tables of info on every spell, item, weapon, class, and enemy in the game. The walkthroughs are basic but each enemy has a write-up that describes a strategy to fight them, etc. There's also detailed info on building a good character, etc. I'm very happy with it, overall. I didn't want a detailed, step-by-step walkthrough, because it would take away from the feeling that I'm completing the game based on my own ability.

My Gamestop was out of Soundtracks, so all I got is the game and the guide.

Lame, but at least I has game.

@akathatoneguy - the souls belong to A demon. The old one (that looks a lot like cuthulu going from the art-book) And yeah, knowing what to use to craft the better/best weapons is a huge help. Can't wait to get started on this one.

@akathatoneguy: they are very good about data, i'll give them that. it just depends on what you mean by "meaty." this just isn't what i'd expect from strategy guide that I would buy, it's pretty lean. of course, i didn't exactly buy it, but that was what I was under the impression of getting.

it's still worth the ten bucks of pre-order though, don't get me wrong. i just get lost easily in games, so maps are generally the primary thing i like to have a guide for. i can't remember how many times i'd get stuck in a game because of something stupid like, i just never noticed a door somewhere or other.

My gamestop gave me an open Deluxe edition, they had the box on the shelf for what 8 hours? Such a waste. Even damaged the box as well, hate guted copies. Atleast the game is sealed, game with guide, artbook/cd. Really hate you gamestop.

That apostrophe isn't unnecessary. The only thing I can say about it is that the placement is questionable. Are these souls all belonging to one demon, or multiple demons? If it's the former, then everything is all right.

But if you took out the apostrophe, then you'd just have two plural nouns one right after the other. It would be like saying "pears lamps."

for the record, i got my at gamestop. so, yeeeup. i guess it's all in theme of the game though. brutal.

@dexter345: if you took out the apostrophe, you'd probably take out the "s" as well. i think it's meant to be ambiguous. in the game demons get human souls, to power their souls, so the human souls would be "demon's souls" in that they are possessed by demons whereas their own soul would be "demon souls" in that they are souls of the characteristic of demons.

well the first zone can suck my left nut that f-in dagron got me so many times. But after i took care of him with few dozen well placed soul arrows / normal arrows it went alot better. I actually made it through zone 3-1 without even losing my body and i killed some dick invader (magic ftw). It's a shame i'm not good enough to go the melee route but i suck to much at parrying for that.
