Demon's Souls Deluxe edition is pretty incredible photo

Well, let's see, what do we know about Demon's Souls so far: Atlus game, hard as hell (this should be a given from the first thing I listed), packed with extra goodies if you preorder it (also a given). Add to that list that if you order the Deluxe Edition, you apparently get even more: along with the embossed slipcase version of the game, a strategy game, an art book, and the soundtrack. Wow!

This edition goes for $69.99, which is not too bad considering it's ten bucks more than the regular edition and comes with a ton of stuff. It comes out on October 6th, so not too much longer to wait. I haven't decided on this one yet, as I've deeply backlogged with games I want to play right now. Are you picking it up, or does it sound too punishing for your tastes?

Cost to publisher: about $5.

Cost to consumer: YOUR SOUL!

Profit?

I think the regular edition also comes with an art book and soundtrack if you pre-order. At any rate I still have to pre-order this sucker, as this game only caught my interest a few weeks ago.

Do want. I'd like to use the strategy guide to get the most out of it. Looks like my October gaming is covered.

Well, I believe that you get the soundtrack and artbook just for preordering the normal edition. The Deluxe edition just adds a strategy guide. Am I wrong?

I don't even know anything about this game but all of that for $10 more? That's incredible.

GAH so undecided with this game! I want to get it, and can probably afford it, but I get random bouts where I almost cancel my pre-order. I don't really know why, either.

Any idea if the asia/jp version will be compatible with the NA version? I can get one for around 48 bucks, while the NA will be 60

Which "strategy game" does it come with :P

I'm hoping some oldschool warcraft.

Also, sorry for being "that guy."

someone explain to me why they thought it was a good idea to release it after ninja gaiden sigma 2 and before uncharted 2. i mean between arkham asylum and sigma 2, there is a drought of games.

Dear God. I'm really starting to want this game simply based on how much good press it's getting and the amount of stuff you can get for $70 bucks but I don't know. I think I might just have to go for it.

I'm biting, though it'll be competing with Borderlands for the soul of my PS3 come Oct. 20th.

Like Unang said, it's EASILY the PS3 game of the year contender, and possibly overall game of the year for myself.

For all those who are confused: you're paying $10 for a $20 strategy guide in the deluxe edition and a small slipcase. That's the only difference.

I'll be getting this, although I'd better get off my arse and raise some ollars for this before it's release so i get all the pre order goodness. Still find it amusing this is the whole "stop importing" thing even though I'm in Australia so technically I'm still importing

I've read how difficult it is. I play games to have fun, not to get frustrated. I may pass. Besides, I already have five games pre-ordered for the 360 and two games pre-ordered for the PS3. Add in Gamefly, and my gaming schedule is booked well into next year.

Send me a PM, and I'll link you to my review. It's not difficulty in a bad way at all: that's a misconception.

Everything is straight forward, and if you have any sort of strategic acumen, you'll prevail.

Stop showing up on these Demon's Souls threads bragging about how much fun you've had! :D We get it, you are one of the luckiest gamers EVAR to have already played it! I bet you are rich, good looking and ALWAYS hit 21 when you play blackjack and your sweat can cure the common cold.

Sheesh!

Just kidding, your hype is only making me want this more! Keep it up.

Haha if you listen to the podcast I'm on, I hype it even more. It's one of the freshest games I've played in my entire life, and definitely worth more than just a niche audience.

If it makes you feel any better, my pre-copy gets completely cut off from all online access at the end of the month. The importers and domestic buyers all get it until the servers shut down. To make matters worse, if I ever do get the US version, I can't transfer my 40+ hour save file!

This game is gonna be doooooope!

Only reason I don't buy the japanese version that's been out for over half a year is that the multiplayer online is region-locked and I got friends I wanna play with in U.S.

But yea, hella excited. Gonna have it day-1

i'm debating whether i should buy this or not. I've heard so much about the difficulty i'm afraid i'd buy it and get my ass kicked and not want to play. But at the same time it just sounds so damn good and the strat guide would probably be a nice edition. Decisions, decisions.

Atlus does not disappoint again, they are quickly becoming one of my favorite developer/publisher and I couldn't be more pleased with everything being offered here for a mere $10 more than normal while just about every other company out there would try to at least get $80-$100 out of this package. I've had this pre-ordered for awhile now and I can't wait, from what I've seen of this game it looks great and it has the potential to be a great RPG with some very cool online/co-op features, difficulty level be damned.

Amazon's got the art book and soundtrack CD with the standard edition pre-orders, as well. I don't know if other retailers have it, but if you don't care about the strategy guide or slip cover that one is $10 cheaper.

I absolutely can't wait for this game. I'm in England so want to import it. It's the apparent bleakness and toughness of the game that appeals so much.

The more people who say this game is brutally hard, the less I believe that it actually is. I'm feeling another Megaman 9 coming on.

That said, I'm incredibly excited for this game. I've had the special edition preordered for months.
