I couldn't have been more impressed with the demo. I've been optimistic too, and was thrilled when I played it. I shrieked like a girl and punched my cat out of pure bliss.
I was impatient so I just got the demo off the japanese PSN which curiously was all voiced in English and the text was all in English. Anyway I'm not entirely sure what to make of it but I did walk away from it feeling positive. It kinda feels like Monster Hunter only a lot more grand, fun and less clunky. I mean fighting a group of goblins then to turn looking at the sunset with a fucking Griffin flying at you is a pretty awesome experience.
I also like how Western like they're making the game but it still has a japanese flair quality to it in the design, I'm really hoping the full package turns out to be something great because as much bullshit Capcom has been pulling lately I'd like to feel positive about them for a change.

I was looking forward to delving into this on XboxLive today, but Big bad Billy Gates has locked the game behind his golden gates of pay, hence i'll have to wait until Wednesday and try the PSN version instead.
Downloading it now on PSN. I'm pretty excited, I really want Capcom to show they can still create good games after the latter half of this generation being meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I just finished the demo and I'm very excited now. I wish they could have given us a little more time with the game, like Kingdoms of Amalur did, but so far I'm convinced. Your first paragraph pretty much sums up how I felt after the demo. I was a little confused and it was pure chaos at some points in the boss battle but it didn't take me long to cotton on and I was having a blast the whole time. Pre-ordered.
Capcom did a piss poor job of presenting this game at comic-con last year and I lost nearly all interest to the point where I wouldn't even look at articles written about it. Closed minded, I know...but there it is. There was a small glimmer of hope that this game would actually turn out bad ass, though. So, if you're still excited about this after playing the demo, Jim, then I think its definitely worth me checking out again. I do love killing monsters and epic battles, after all. Everyone else seems to like it too so i'm sure i'll like it.

Long time preordered and waiting for it! But the demo only shows combat, nothing of exploration is showed. Well, we will see it on the complete game.
After playing the demo I must say there is a fat chance of me buying the game. A very, very fat chance.
The best things about the demo are the ability to save the customized main character and their main pawn for importing into the full game (which can be edited at any time and without any clumsy middle-steps involved via 'Initiation Station') and the fact that the big, brutal and busy battles actually put the player in direct control of all of the climbing and mutilation rather than leave it all up to QTEs unlike some game that Rev Burch claimed had an unspeakably epic opening sequence but had gameplay that made the whole thing feel like an archaic relic from ancient Greece(which might have been what the devs were going for) whose name doesn't merit being bought up right now.
I was extremely unimpressed by the demo IMO. Cluttered HUD, Annoying pawns that made the game extremely easy, lacklustre boss fights, boring and lifeless combat, my ears couldn't grab a break from all the nattering everyone was doing, not to mention you can literally just press X the entire time and still kill the gryphon without any problem.
@deathsmiles666: I rate this troll 4/10. You should observe more successful trolls to learn the finer points of the art, such as subtlety and pressure points to spark volatile reactions. Extend yourself beyond playground name calling. Chin up, you'll get there!
I've been following this game since day one. The main guy behind the project said he's been wanting to create his own game for some time, and this is his first shot to do so.
I have to admit, though, that an earlier version I saw played looked so bug riddled it turned me off. It is great to hear that this game has shaped up to what Jim and Dale have said.
Gonna check out the demo, if that looks good, then I'm am buying. New. Because I can't wait.

@Polite Gentleman- Self worship. It's understandable that anything as magnificent as dragons would venerate and adore themselves and demand as much from others.
this is sounding better and better. just really wish this was online co-op. could have mad this so much better. 2 player co-op each having 1 pawn. and voice chat.
This is my most anticipated game by far and the demo only made me more excited. I waited until night and fought the griffin by lantern. It was absolutely amazing, you couldn't see anything that wasn't close by or illuminated by pawn's fire arrow or magic. It's great to have night actually be so dark.
Wait hold the phone. This isn't a coop game? Game is junk then. I wasn't thrilled with the demo but gave it the benefit of the doubt cause I figured it was designed to play with friends.I be holding off if its true.
Demo was great even though it was short. Dogpile on the Chimera was pretty funny. I dig that i can climb onto bosses and fight em in the air or wherever. Brings back good feelings of Shadow of the Colossus. Curse you Capcom, how can i hate you now that you bring me something new and fun?

Being a Dark Souls fanatic made me want to tell the companions to go the hell away so I could solo the bosses. The fact that it kinda scratched that itch at all is enough to make me want more.
Weren't all these guys saying the game would suck ballz because it's Japanese from the beginning? Why the change of heart?
Turn off the hud and cinematic shit; it makes the game much better. I wish there was more to do in the demo, but it's only a demo. I can't wait until the game comes out though.
Demo was utter shit. Combat was like a poor man's Amalur, outside area was like a poor man's Elder Scrolls, and inside dungeon area was like a poor man's Souls game.
Sæglópur: sounds like you got a poorman's XBOX/PS3...the game's graphics makes skyrim seem shitty and nothin but bland landscapes and shit you can find in your "my pictures" folder pre-loaded on your laptop, combat is much better than amalur's, amalur's was shit...its like s new gen more violent zelda and god i hate its graphics, id rather just go play zelda...and the combat seemed extremely realistic and swings had actual weight and consequences to them (unlike skyrim's ridiculous clunky swings, slashing a robot or a dragon or even a wall or the air is the same thing there) this is gona be an incredible game and goddam MAY 22 cant get here any faster!
Demo was great, just too short. Combat felt good and graphics were good (ps3). Felt awesome taking down those beasts and the pawns aren't stupid or useless. Super excited to get my hands on the full thing.
I love being able to pick up my pawns and carry them around whilst fighting a monster. I found it funny when they got in the way of me grabbing the bosses. I had to keep throwing my pawns like Pikmin out of the way so I could stab me some feathered head. It didn't happen often enough to be a problem and it made me laugh so all is well. This demo makes me wanna buy the game right now so badly! A month is too long to wait!
I thought the demo was really good as well. The only negatives were the camera completely going out of whack during crucial battle moments, esp in confined areas, and no way to lock on to enemies? Did I just miss it? Is there a way that I excitedly skipped over? Either way I can't wait for a huge and threatening open world to travel with my pawn(s) so I can properly enjoy the game.

I seriously hope Capcom nerfed the demo bosses on purpose just for the casual players, because neither gave me any challenge whatsoever. Liongoatsnake was amusing, but the griffon took only a few minutes to kill once I was acquainted with the controls.
I really didn't like the fact that they cut out the freeroaming aspect, demo or not. The Kingdoms of Amalur demo gave us around 1hr 45 minutes to freely wander about. IMO, when freeroam is a game's major selling point it needs to be represented in the demo. I'll wait for a review :-/
