Delayed: Metal Gear Solid 4 held hostage until Q2 of 2008 photo

When Metal Gear Solid 4 was given a spring 2008 release date, people bemoaned the long wait as if they didn't expect it. It seems they better get moaning some more, as it's been announced that the game has now been pushed back even more to Q2 of 2008, turning a March release into an April-June one.

Konami's press release states that, instead of March, the developers had been working toward a winter 2007 launch, which has confused some people, although it could just be suggesting that this had been the company's intention before Kojima announced the 2008 launch window.

Konami had initially intended to release Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots this winter and has been working on the production of the title. Konami has decided to delay the title's release in order to make further improvements to the quality of the game and provide even greater enjoyment for more customers worldwide.

This is sure to cause a great wailing and gnashing of teeth among the local villagers, as nobody likes a delay. Still, if it makes sure Guns of the Patriots is as excellent as I'm hoping it'll be, one can't really complain.

I'm not worried about it. Kojima-San can take as long as he wants with this, i rather it be perfect than out soon

They talked about making changes, if necessary, based on how the E for All demo went over with American audiences, I'm guessing a few things came up there they want to address. And as far as it coming out for the 360 I believed at one time but Ron hasn't talked about it for a long time and I've started to lose faith, forgive me Ron.

That just gives them more of a chance to add more ridiculous content and take the hype train up to 100, and make the game even more overrated than it already is.

I wonder if its alright to consider this as good news. (i realize i may get rocks thrown at me for agreeing). I remember watching the E for All vids + demo footage. Hmm things I studied..

1) Players vary in playing styles..
a- wanting to have more freedom
b- actually take the time to decide which side you're on
c- focused more on the enviorment, than opposite sides

2) Whats the real focus in MGS4?
a- responses from anyone whos played it, amazed but wasnt sure what to do
b- what is the real mission during the demo?
c- do i go to a or b?

3) Why isnt there any goals in front of me?
a- they didnt look around first, but moved on emotion
b- just took out opponents that seemed as opposition during their playing time
c- studied their surroundings, but messed around their playing field

I dont really see the analogy of jumping console to console. But hopefully they'll want to branch out to both sides. They have seen alot of response with the E for All demo. Probably voiced opinion towards the on-site Konami Team (which makes for positive or negative notations).

Also as a keynote, Ryan did mention that the game is being garnered differently by audiences (Japan to American) We love various ways of playing a game, so this could be another reason for delay. Maybe possibly giving you open options on what ways you want to go about your mission in the game. Kinda curious what our friends overseas would like to see MGS4's gameplay to be like.

Has everyone forgotten that Spring runs from March 21 - June 21 (at least in the US)? Nine whole days of that falls outside of Q2. Sheesh!

I highly doubt that they are going to release this game in the summer. It's a slow time of year for games. It's not coming out until fall of next year. Bet.
