Better late than never. Deep Silver announced plans this afternoon to publish the once-PC-exclusive RPG Risen on the Xbox 360 in North America. Original developer Piranha Bytes is doing the port and aims to have it out on store shelves at some this February.
Alongside the official release, we were given some nifty new screens of the Xbox 360 version in action. As you’ll notice, Risen is an RPG-ass RPG -- complete with a mystery island, woman in need, and a peasant hero who learns to master crazy talens.
I haven’t much experience with this game because of the PC requirements, but I’ve heard some good things. And coming off my Dragon Age: Origins high, I’m totally willing to give another supposedly deep fantasy RPG a shot on my Xbox 360. Let’s see how it goes, eh?

No idea where you're getting your info, but the PC version has been very well received. Great game.
Is this confirmed? The European 360 port was outsourced. PB only handled the PC release. And the outsourced port made the PS3 port of Bayonetta look stellar.
The PC game looks astounding too... best wishes to US Xboxers for getting a good port.
i almost imported it! I am longing so much for another oblivion style rpg.
if this is a budget release this is a day one 4 me. and I personally really enjoyed the demo, I cant wait.
Risen is actually much, much better than Gothic 3. Runs seamlessly and surprisingly bugfree. Gothic 3 was kind of their black sheep. And yeah, it is fucking terrible.
From what I've read, the 360 version of Risen doesn't hold up though. Seems to be severely cut back in the graphics department.
Dude, that was the publisher, Jowood... they forced the game to release despite not being done and they refused to pay for PB to patch it more. That is one of the main reasons PB left Jowood for Deep Silver for Rise, to have a better publisher.
You're blaming entirely the wrong people. Risen is awesome.
I completed it without problems and gamebreaking bugs. There is none (now).
As for Risen, developers made a promise to release bug-free game and they did it.
i completed it a few weeks after release without any crashes or bugs. They kept the promise.
The PC version may be great, but from what I read at the time the 360 port wasn't good at all
I wanted to play it so bad and yet it sucks so much. I guess I have to play it on the PC only.
