I dunno... if you liked the look of Vanquish enough to recognize it's boxart, then wouldn't you presumably no it's name?
Plus on the Deep Black cover it looks like he's shooting at something that has caused him to fall over, rather than sliding across the ground shooting.
If anything it looks like Master Chief fell in to the boxart for Cold Fear.

Why the vanquish hate? I thought vanquish was fantastic, nicely paced campaign, cool action and an over the top plot full of corny dialog.

Until a game case has the protagonist doing a handstand while shooting bad guys with his cock there's a huge chance that it's going to look similar to another case.

@ xiaolinstyle: agreed! I fall into the minority of people who actually enjoyed Vanquish. Maybe wasn't what folks expected and/or there are gameplay mechanics /design some find off-putting but it's very well done and I see myself playing it through again.

We've been seeing these kinds of dynamic poses since Jack Kirby. I'm not really willing to claim art theft considering it looks like Halo 2 (shown above) which looked like a Dead Pool cover, which looked like a WetWorks cover which looked like a Cable cover which... aw fuck it. Yellow Journalism away...
If you can't tell the difference between "Vanquish" and "DEEP Black," I don't know what to say. $40-60 is a small price for learning the importance of reading.
Still haven't played the full game of Vanquish, but I loved the demo. Seems like a great spin on the tired Gears formula.

This probably is to piggy back off the success of Vanquish. Every other reviewer loved it and people bought the hell out of it, so why not try to cash? I, for one, despise Vanquish, so I wouldn't even give this a second glance.
It seems it's almost stylish to hate on Vanquish now. Personally I think the haters can go screw themselves. Not for disliking the game, but for making it harder for me to just enjoy it myself.

Nah. I love hard games, (Super Meat Boy, Bayonetta, DKCR, earthworm Jim) but I found vanquish to be....dull. which is odd because I adore Platinum Games.

ya... confused gamers... cuz when i go out looking for a game i use the box art to find it instead of thinking about the name.
Someone falling backwards while firing a gun is hardly a new thing under the sun. It looks like a billion comic book covers. It might uninspired, but it's hardly plagiarism.
Vanquish is kickass. Been loving my playthrough so far, even the corny dialog. Could use a few more guns though.
You know what though, looking at some screens this Deep Black game actually looks kinda cool. Sure, the cover art is a blatant rip, but to their credit, the game actually looks decent.

Well I am being personally attacked by people saying "oh you don't like hard games" or "oh you're casual because you think these games are hard".
A game isn't good because it's difficult. I felt that Vanquish's mediocracy couldn't be overshadowed on how hard it is....its dull.
