December 1st: Space Invaders Get Even on WiiWare photo

We keep hearing about Space Invaders Get Even, but we're not hearing enough. Taito's arcade classic gone 3D came out in Japan some time ago, but there's been no mention of a North American release... until now.

The fine folks at GoNintendo tell us that Square Enix announced that this WiiWare title will be hitting the channel on December 1st. Set 30 years after the original, you become the invaders, controlling the UFO and attacking helpless citizens.

Shacknews is guessing that this title will be released for 500 Wii Points ($5), as the European and Japanese versions carried the same price. As we told you before, this game actually has three more add-on packs, so that price may actually be $20 in the end.

$20 still seems cheap for this game. I can't wait for this; it's (hopefully) gonna be amazing!

Yeah $20 does seem like a good price for the game because I heard that this game was first suppose to be a full retail game. So paying $5 just to try it, and $20 total if you really like it seems way better than paying $40, or $50 retail of it. Plus it looks cool!

This is why I never got into the Destroy All Humans game. One man on the ground is not as nearly as fun as amassing a whole fleet.

Dylan1CC on the shmups forum pointed me towards a pair of YouTube reviews of this game (one for the "main" package and the other for the DLC, which do end up totaling 20 bucks) by a UK gamer - one is here and the other is here. I recommend watching them both, but in a nutshell, if you get all the packs the game is apparently pretty good (including the ability to play as the ships from Darius and Rayforce), but it takes up nearly 700 blocks worth of space, so you'd better make a commitment before DLing.

Dylan's original post is here, at the bottom of the page.

Is this single player, or can I play with friends?

I have faith in this game due to the awesome 'Space Invaders Extreme.' And, well, the concept is fuckin' RAD.

Want.

It's been out in Europe for ages. Each "add on pack" is basically one stage... the first purchase only gives you one... I didn't buy any more after that slap in the face. Square has been ripping off Wii DLC buyers for quite a long time with games like this, Crystal Defenders, and even the multiple add ons for My Life as a King and My Life as a Darklord, although at least those last two games were really meaty and worthwhile without any DLC too. Then there's the FFIV sequel The After Years that, when you add all the chapters up, sold separately, they end up as a full priced retail title... For a SNES game... No thank you...

For shmup love get Sin & Punishment 2, it's sold for about $20 (see amazon), comes with a nice box, and plenty more levels.
