I love zombies, as you may well be aware, and Dead Rising on 360 is one of the finest examples of zombies in videogames I have ever had the pleasure of playing. Now we have this trailer for the Wii version, Chop Till You Drop. The video is a little misleading, as it starts with footage of Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition to point out that they'll have similar Wiimote controls.

I love my Wii and I love my Dead Rising. But you ever have that pair of friends who you have a ton of fun with on an individual basis but can't stand when they're together? That's kinda the feeling I get watching this. I'm really interested in a Dead Rising game with improved control over firearms. You know what else I'm interested in? Zombies, and there's only about twenty of them here.

I really hope this game is better than the trailer is making it look, because I'm not seeing anything threatening about groupings of a dozen or so zombies scattered throughout my field of vision. Maybe it's early on and not all the zombies have shown up yet? Zombies can be fashionably late too, you know.

Oh, who am I kidding?

Shitty port to the Wii is shitty.

I was worried of this too. I was hoping they'd keep waggling to the minimum (not evident by shaking the baseball bat to charge it - who does that?) and they'd be able to get a lot of on-screen zombies, which also looks like a resounding no.
I love zombies, and I love zombie games, but lack a 360. Oh well.

Well - the baseball bat thing looked incredible. I haven't seen much on this, hopefully it's different enough to be worth buying over again.

Sadly, the baseball swing mechanic was shown several times, so that leads me to believe that beyond that there isn't much else as far as innovation.

Normally i would buy this, but with so many good games coming out for the Wii, i think i'll save money to buy more interesting things, like Munamasa, S&P, Conduit, Madworld, and so on.
Half-baked port is half-baked.

Capcom really knows how to port games... this would be fun if I didn't already have the 360 version.

Honestly, I don't think it looks bad. Some of the shots and video in the beginning of that trailer looked really impressive, while most of it looked like there should have been WAY more zombies on the screen at once. I'm kinda torn.

Open microsoft paint.

Draw some cricles.

Use the paint bucket icon to color them in.

Congrats, your piece of shit looks better than Dead Rising Wii.

Does "winding up" your bat actually have any purpose in real life? Is it just for show?

I suspect simply swinging your bat and smashing a zombie would be infinitely more effective than winding it up for half a min, exposing yourself to attack.

in other words, I'm convinced that particular "innovation" is more or less there to justify use of the controller.

Waggle away, children.

Shitty? The only "shitty" aspect of this is the lack of on-screen zombies. The rest of it looks to be pretty decent.

Which isn't to say that the lack of zombies won't change the entire game, being that the game was pretty-much about mowing through shit-tons of 'em. Still, think of this as a Fisher-Price "My first zombie" playset. :D
