Pandemic’s latest third-person shooter, Mercenaries 2: World in Flames, is turning the destruction meter up to 11. Just Like its predecessor, you play as a mercenary in a sandbox-style world (this time it’s Venezuela) and perform whatever dirty deeds your employers tell you to do. But who says you can’t have a little fun along the way?

Mercenaries 2 will feature over 130 vehicles, online two-player co-op, and the ability to hijack a helicopter while it’s in flight using a grappling hook and your bare hands. If that’s not a selling point, I don’t know what is.

Unfortunately, Mercenaries 2 will not hit store shelves until late October, but it will be available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and even PC (can’t wait to see those mods). Hopefully, this trailer will feed your appetite for destruction until then.

[Thanks, Buck F1tches]

I'm looking forward to the truck o' missiles. I loved the first one, and this one looks just as fantastic. Not sure how I feel about the hookshot though.

I never played the original, but my crazy friend used to tell me about all the awesome things he did in game. It was on my to buy list for a while, but I never got around to it.

The original Mercenaries was an amazing game. But this complete BS, why the hell is the game coming to PS2 and not Wii? Anyone care to explain why, or know why?

@ electroleman

Yes, I was serious. And your response barely makes any sence. I think the game would be a ton of fun on Wii But, it looks like I'll have to get the 360 version.

I have to say, nice explosions. I can feel the heat by just looking at them.

OMG I'M A TOTAL GRAPHIX WHORE!

Game looks fantastic. It's a shame it really isn't my cuppa tea, but I'm sure it'll be a hit.

And I noticed they still have the same racially balanced characters to choose from. :)

...I wonder why the Asian characters are always female...

@ electrolemon:

Totally disagree on your M rated reasoning. Nintendo hasn't shied away from having Mature games since the SNES days. They got this flack for censoring the first Mortal Kombat, but parts 2 and 3 came out for the SNES untouched. Look at titles like Perfect Dark or Conkers Bad Fur Day on the N64 or Resident Evil, MGS: Twin Snakes, Eternal Darkness, and Killer 7 on the Cube. They even had that terrible BMX XXX game, which was untouched on Cube and actually censored on the PS2. The Wii already has a few M rated titles (Godfather, Scarface, Mortal Kombat, Far Cry, Splinter Cell) with more coming like Manhunt 2, RE 4 remake, and No More Heroes on the way. Reggie's even said they're trying to get third parties to make more mature content for the Wii. Nintendo definitely has a kiddie image, but it's not because they try to stop M rated games from appearing on their consoles. It's because people forget evidence that doesn't support their existing beliefs. It's like saying the 360 doesn't have anything but FPSs. And you're completely forgetting that Jack Thompson has already tried to get Wendy's to pull the Wii-themed toys from their Kid's Meal because of Manhunt 2.

The control issue is definitely the more likely reason, as well as seeing what happened when Ubisoft spammed the console with quick and dirty ports. Developers are going to do better building Wii games from the ground up instead of tacking on waggle at the last minute.

Like many others, I have never played the first game but heard a lot of good things about it. This one is definitely going on the GameFly queue.

The game looks pretty good, but I doubt whether they'll actually stick up with the october release date, too many AAA games are bound to be released around that time frame,The original one managed to rank up the Chartys because of its January release date,I think it'll be wise for them not to release the game with the original only a week or two old because hard comparisions will then be inevitable, which I dont think is fair.
