Remember a time when more often than not, Xbox LIVE Arcade games were only $5 a pop? Currently, we are at a point where the normal rate for XBLA titles has reached $10, with a few exceptions. But how long until $15 becomes the norm? It might happen sooner than you think.

Although almost everyone I know has been giving praise to this week's Xbox LIVE Arcade release, Death Tank (1200 Microsoft Points), I cannot help but wonder why it just had to be priced at $15.

The big draw here is frantic local (4-player) and online (8-player) multiplayer action, as seen in the trailer above. Knowing my purchasing habits, I'll likely suck it up and buy Death Tank if a large enough portion of my friends list has it too.

Sorry Death Tank, you picked a baaaaaad week to show up. It's all about Burnout Paradise DLC and SFIV this week.

As much as I love the games this is remaking, $15 is way too much.

Gotta love the cheesy "DEATH TANK, READY FOR ACTION!!!" bit at the end of the trailer, though.

So it's Scorched Earth, which was free (and not even the also free 3D version), but with manic firing instead of turn based combat, for $15 dollars.

No thanks.

I loved scorched earth. If someone made that game in xna it would be 400 points and everyone would be happy.

1200 points for this ? now freaking way ! Low sales will lead to low player count on the servers which then leads to boring game...

THIS IS A MUST NOT BUY !

The fuck? 1200 points? No thanks. These LIVE Arcade prices are getting beyond a joke now, this piece of shit probably took all of a week to make.

Why would I get a generic Worms clone, when I can get the original for 1/3 the price?
Also R-Type Dimensions was already too expensive and I probably will never buy it.

Worms clone? Worms just adapted a VERY common game-concept and managed to do it with some polish, some soul, and some energy. It, however, was largely a clone of tank-based artillery games (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artillery_game).

Looks like a good spin on an old idea, but it's too much.

Why is this 1200 points? 800 points is bad enough for an XBLA game-- 400 points should be the standard unless the game is exceptional.

I still haven't purchased Braid for 1200, and Braid looks (and from what people say "is") awesome.

1200 is a joke, even if it looks fun.

wow, just realised that this and so many other stories are pinched from shacknews.com and then posted here. Plaguerism is not journalism...oh wait

stewy stop smoking weed and realize that nobody "rips off" from the other the week's xbla releases. EVERYONE posts them. it's only plagiarism if they steal the words used in a case like this. From what I can tell, the shack piece talks about the game and this one talks about how hard life is when games are $15.

I hope everyone realizes that $15 is an insanely good deal, still. A fourth of the price of a retail game, and often just as much fun. I literally can't comprehend the whiny bitchiness about another $5. If you'd pay $10 for it, why wouldn't you pay $15, other than some bullshit principle that these tiny companies who want to make enough money to employ people and make another game shoukldn't be able to charge enough to not go under during these economic times? Jesus. Fuck off and pirate or something, whiny bitches.
