Surprised it took them THIS long to kill that character off. Statesman was Jack Emmert's persona and creation, and he jumped ship and left the game for greener pastures years ago. If I remember right, Positron has been running the show since then.

Was going to say the same thing. I always associated the two, so when Jack left Statesman became just a hollow shell as far as I was concerned.
I just wish this was standard for the f2p players as well as the VIP players since the main story is one of CoH's strong point IMO.

Comic heroes don't stay dead, so not that interesting to be honest.

Yeah well, I think he thought it was gonna be at the time. Just as well, pretty much everyone that played CoH back then hated his guts.
Dittoing what Tristrix and Hancock said. States has been like an abandoned PC in an AD&D game for ages.

I'm surprised to, to be honest just not because Emmert's lack of involvment.. Actually, I'm surprised at the complete lack of deaths in both this and Champions.
At the same time though, CoH is based on comic book tropes.. I'm expecting them to resurrect the character, and maybe even make him more powerful, if a little bit changed, sometime a year or two from now, if the games still running (and I'm sure it will be, if it hasn't died yet theres no reason to kill it)
