Look, I rarely get upset about grammar, but I expect a basic grasp of English when I read a website that's doling out news.
"there's a few exploits" - quantity qualifiers
"DayZ's limitations will be of Hall's designs, constraints he decided upon" - inconsistent tenses
"A fansite, DayZTexas has thoughtfully..." - missing comma
"discounted alpha in the same vein and Minecraft" - wrong word
"are options the team is considering" quantity qualifiers

I am a bit disappointed with the DayZ mod, I paid 23 bucks for Arma and got a mod with quite possibly the worst user interface ever conceived. The mass of bugs I don't mind, I get it's an early project. The idea is brilliant, and when I got past the issues I did have a bit of fun.
Perhaps what I'm saying is coming out wrong, DayZ is a great idea and I'd love to play a standalone version, but why the mod that stands wasn't worth the asking price for Arma.
They better get a damn good UI guy on the team.

Shin, you seem to be forgetting that you bought a game to play an -alpha- mod (huge emphasis on alpha)... Of course it's going to wall short of the normal expectations. You must have been pretty ill informed about just what you were getting into before purchasing the game.

Not necessarily. If Fraser was referring to "the team" as a unified group, then "is" is fine. If he was referring to a group of individuals, then yes, "are" would have been correct.

@Rammstein - That's a good question. Why aren't there more comments on the DayZ posts? I've wondered this too. In my case, I usually get my DayZ news from other sites, more PC focused blogs. By the time news reaches Destructoid I've already read about it elsewhere and skip over the articles posted here. Though, I'll glance at the comment section to see what the community thinks about DayZ, its usually pretty empty.
Hey man, I'm console-scum but I'm totally interested in DayZ. Unfortunately, I don't have time to play it. But it is still a title that has my attention.
I find it funny that many of my co-workers purchased Arma 2 with no intention of playing it, just this mod.
The fact that it has garnered enough of a following to warrant a stand alone release is very cool.

I quit playing DayZ. Everything he's changed has been to f*ck over lone survivors who would like to team up with others (e.g., removal of global chat, even though clans etc. will have their own chat setups). Also no starting pistol, which kinda blows when zombies are so buggy and bandits are everyone now. And honestly? The game just gets old after a while. It's a huge deathmatch now.
I'm much more interested in Survarium, by some of the guys who worked on Stalker. I think it will have a lot of the elements I like about DayZ, but with a cooler world (monsters etc) and more options to work with other players.
Not trying to advertise for them, but anyone who likes DayZ should give the game a serious look. Won't be out for at least a year, though :(

I agree with having a starting pistol. Considering the amount of bullshit I've had to put up with just to find a fucking weapon to defend myself, from the incessant bandits who camp out at earlier towns, or the fact that zombies will follow you to the ends of the earth (Sprinting, no less), even a small handgun with even 1 bullet would be a godsend.
Also, let's hope they fix those wonderful zombie animations.

DayZ has problems. Yes, I know it's some kind of alpha or beta or whatever currently.
But the hackers and scripters, are EVERYWHERE.
Also the gameplay...run, run, run, more running. Find a corpse to loot, sniper kills you. Start all over.
The good moments are great. The other 95% is a waste of time.
