Watch out. The red-clad, gun-toting mercenary Deadpool will be playable in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2: Fusion (or whatever the subtitle ends up being).

Activision recently dropped some footage of the fan-favorite antihero that you can watch after the jump. You won’t hear Deadpool spewing any brilliant social satire through his cute mask, but you’ll be able to catch a glimpse of what he will bring to the table in terms of combat. (Hint: pistols, swords and grenades.)

Check it out and tell us what you think. I’m definitely excited to rock Deadpool in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2: Dudes Melt Together To Form Wicked Attacks.

[Update: One word, got it.]

Not to earn myself a ticket to Brad's gun show...but he was in the first one, should we be shocked? Now if Cable was announced to go with him, now you're onto something.

I have the first one but never played it, don't plan on it either. But yeah, he was in the first one, was there a rumor that he wouldn't be in the sequel or something?

As dtoids biggest fan and the one who tipped this, I must emphasize that DEADPOOL is indeed one word.

I was about to say the same thing...he's not "joining" a roster if he was always in there, including X-Men Ultimate Alliance II (MUA's precursor). The reason for the release of this video is simply to build off the movie's success and make people go "ooo Deadpool!"

On a related note, doesn't this vid just piss you off? Imagine how cool a real Deadpool could have been in the movie. Literally, and I'm not joking here, they could have used that digital Deadpool from that video, super-imposed him into Origins: Wolverine the movie, and it would have been better than what they had.

Fucking sweet.

I really hope those Wolverine people do end up making a Deadpool game, but Marvel Deadpool, not totally-fuck-up-the-coolest-character-in-that-universe-by-calling-him-weapon 11-and-giving-him-everyone-elses-powers-and-taking-away-his-mouth-despite-being-THE MERC WITH A MOUTH-Deadpool.Ryan Reynolds was actually a really good choice for him though, they got that right.

I'm guessing this is a rather big deal, simply because he hadn't been ANNOUNCED as returning just yet. I'm happy to see him confirmed.

I don't see why they need Juggernaut, Luke Cage, Hulk, and Thing considering their powers are all pretty much the same. They all seem to play almost the same, too.

As for Deadpool, as long as they give him more dialogue, I will be a happy panda.

Oh great....Deadpool will have so many beastly moves!! As a comic fan and collector I never really "got" Deadpool. Spidey's slapstick banter but replace his cool powers with wolvies healing factor on roids some semi-auto guns and a katana.....how uhhh, "teen".....but hey, the character moves books! Oh wait....no he doesn't cuz few people read anymore.

Yeah.....Deadpool is a waste be he in a game or in the books (except for that Hulk VS toon...that's about the most entertaining I have ever seen him). The internet/gaming moguls have latched onto these pseudo comic fans and their love for Deadpool, the Punisher, and Venom....well Frank's cool, but the others can go far away. Villains who sometimes turn anti-hero to get the emoes giddy enough to spend money on short run comics and merchandising. I'll take Namor or DC's Black Adam over these cheap knock-off-Sasuke-oh-I'm-soooo-dark-and-troubled-characters any day. End rant....Can you tell that I don't like Deadpool? Oh yeah (new rant)....OTOGI 3!!!! I’m wit ya man! They gave me flack on the 360 boards for coming onto every Fromsoftware post (chromehounds, armored core, enchanted arms, and tenchu Z) and insisting on an Otogi 3 birth on the 360! Yeah….I got problems….but I love those games!!! OTOGI 3eeeeeeeee baybee!!!!

@GameraTheGreat

Deadpool first appearance - 1991

Venom first appearance - 1984

Sasuke first appearance - 1999

Uh, what was that about those two being Sasuke knock offs... regardless Deadpool outsold Superman and Wonder Woman in April, so I would say he definitely moves books.

Nice wiki timeline...I was there so I remember, but thanks for the thought.

Deadpool: Knockoff of both Spidey and Wolverine. Combining Petey's fighting banter with Logan's healing abilities (mind you healing dialed up to Hulk levels) and killem first ask questions later attitude. The merc with a mouth…..might be compelling in another comic universe but there are too many characters in the Marvel uni that do “him” better.

Venom: Knockoff of Spidey and possessed of the same powers almost to a t minus suit tricks and roughly twice as strong as the web-head. Eliminate Parker's personality quirks and likeable qualities and replace them with a brooding sadistic anger and an even weaker (the story was trite back then also - McFar was simply what was hot at the time) revenge based plot.

Sasuke reference: fans of anti-heroes often flock to these characters and many of them tend to be angsty teens searching for an edge (those hormones can really kick your ass when you're a wee tike) that life doesn't always offer. They aren't knock offs of Sasuke...its just that “he” makes for an excellent poster boy for the emo movement and the neo anti-hero faction.

By the way, Supes and Wonder Woman (as books) have been struggling for relevance in the last couple of years. This fact was punctuated by their removal/isolation/banishment into that very forgettable Trinity series where even the mighty BAT could not save them from obscurity. Deadpool books beating those titles is no crowning achievement.

Sorry, Deadpool sucks b....at least you will be able to buy another game with him uselessly thrown in as a character. Didn’t mean for this to become a VS thread, but Deadpool and Venom are paper thin as characters to me and it grinds me when they get tossed in before other more thoughtfully written characters.

Mm. I don't get all the love for Deadpool either... I just recently got into comics / graphic novels (after reading The Dark Knight Returns and The Watchmen), and I had Cable & Deadpool suggested to me... I tried giving it a chance, but after 15 of the 60 comics (if I remember correctly) I stopped reading. It did have a good bit of philosophy in it, which I thoroughly enjoyed, but it just didn't captivate me. It just seemed so cliche and forced; he isn't a character who's genuinely funny, he's a character who was created to appeal to a certain audience (at least, that was my impression).

Maybe I just dislike superhero comics. (Transmetropolitan FTW.)
