One of the sadder things in life is not having played Deadly Premonition. It's as if everyone joined an awesome cult that was really cool and you wanted to join, but the area you were in hadn't released that cult yet. The worst metaphor ever made aside, what I am saying is that it is sad to be in Europe where Deadly Premonition doesn't even have an official release date. Unofficially, though, HMV has just popped up with the first non-NTSC region locked release date with we have seen of 17-09-10. They also list a price of £24.99.
September is only a few months away! You could be discovering FK in the coffee in time for the holidays, Europe. While tipster and all around neato guy ProfessorPew points out that the aforementioned "region locked" version of the game had been listed before, an actual European release like this has not.
Listings on retailer's sites can never be trusted, but it's always fun to get your hopes up.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Say what you will about gameplay, but creativity, interesting storym clever dialouge and wonderful characters should be rewarded.
can't say I've ever wanted to start a boycott group or something cause this game's not released in Europe before, but now that it probably is I'll probably pick it up. it's not even full price, for God's sake!
@nort het: Most Japan-only games wouldn't sell at all well in America or Europe. Hell, the subject matter of more than a few (not to mention actual content) would only attract all kinds of ridiculous, idiotic reports from the media screaming about how these games turn children into rapists and murderers.
I haven't played it yet myself so judgment awaits!
Regardless, it seems you people are intent on getting excited about this game anyway, so here are some tips to make this game as enjoyable as possible.
-play on easy difficulty. The faster you get through the combat sections the better. The developers thought harder = more hp for enemies, to the point where in the end, it takes 100 machine gun bullets in the face to kill an enemy on medium.
-premptively search on gamefaqs to see which sidequests to do. Some sidequests will make the game alot simpler like the radio which will let you fast travel (do want). While some sidequests have you running around for an hour for a trading card of a sandwhich (DO NOT WANT).
-Use the tree of Anna. Some sidequests will only activate on Tuesdays, from 8:00-9:00, only on rainy days, etc. The tree of Anna gives you a place to sleep, along with infinite pickles to eat do you don't starve.
End epic post.
IT'S WITH AN H, NOT A K
GOD DON'T YOU KNOW ANYTHING
Hahaha! I thought I must have missed that part of E3, where Microsoft unveiled the name of the new 360 as "2limline", and I was like, "How the hell do I pronounce that?"
@HEL105
I agree 100% about the combat. Holding down RT to aim, LT to lock and pressing A to shoot is just ridiculous. In fact, the controls in general are mind-bogglingly bad, but I figure that just comes with the genre.
Other than that, though, the game is awesome! I'm playing through right now (never finished it when I first bought it because I got sucked into Mass Effect) and I've already had a ton of genuine "oh shit!" scary moments, and York is probably the most interesting protagonist I've ever played.
Yus.
@Sir LegendHead: I wouldn't be surprised if I saw something like that in the game.
