Deadly Premonition drinks UK's coffee on October 29 photo

Bizarrely brilliant comedy/horror Deadly Premonition has finally been given a release date for the United Kingdom, with Rising Star Games announcing that it'll be ready just in time for Halloween. British fans of strangeness will be able to pick up Swery65's coffee-flavored game on October 29.

Deadly Premonition has proven to be one of the most controversial titles of the year, and even the publisher is keen to point out the contrast between Destructoid's own 10/10 review and IGN's brutal 2/10

"The release means gamers in the UK will finally be able to form their own opinions about Deadly Premonition," declares Rising Star, "a game which has split opinions across the board: Destructoid awarded it 10/10, naming it "simply stunning", while IGN US scored it 2/10, saying it's "terrible".

When I go to events like E3 and, more recently, PAX, the amount of people who thank Destructoid for recommending Deadly Premonition is mindblowing. Those gamers that have given it a chance has most often ended up falling in love with it. Here's hoping those in the PAL region do the same!

U ... K ... in the coffee.

Do you think the publishers are playing dumb, or are genuinely stupid?

So what's the deal with them never releasing it overseas on ps3? Isn't it a multiplatform title originally?

I thought this game was good for a while but once I went back to it after a 3 month shelving session, it sucked so bad I couldnt even play it. Deadly Premonition is garbage.

Would have already imported it, if it wasn't for this stupid region code. But I'm still surprised about the devs and their comments on reviews. And their self-awareness. Or lack thereof. Or a role well played. Well, this might be the case considering the very nature of the game...^^

"It's easy to say you like something funny and strange. It takes some balls to not automatically dog pile on a game because it didn't live up to some impossible expectation (ff 13, metroid other m)"

Oh you mean like we did with Modern Warfare 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Killzone 3, and all the OTHER top-tier AAA games we've rated highly?

Get off your high horse, son.

This game was the best 20 dollars I ever spent. Seriously. If there was ever a point where I was starving, and had spent twenty dollars just to eat, it would have had less value than me surviving and buying DP. This game showcases what is important in games: take your graphics and refinement, shove it up your ass, and get story, characters, a (esoteric) script. That is what makes a game great.

Trying to figure out epic-koryuken's remark about "esoteric"... eh.

Seriously? I actually thought this game was out tomorrow! All the retailers have been listing it for September 17th, but I guess it must have changed since I last looked.

Not to mind for me though, I'm hugely enjoying the Japanese PS3 copy I picked up earlier in the year. About ten hours in now (just at the start of episode 2 part 2) and the game continues to surprise me. It may be made with budget in mind, but the game world and atmosphere are some of the strongest I've come across in a long time.

My girlfriend will have to wait for now, but as a couple of Silent Hill fans who've been following this game since the Destructoid review I'm sure it'll be worth it for her. You got my gratitude for continuously hammering down this kooky game world on us, Jim. She now gets really pissed off every time I quote one of the weird things that Agent York says in the game!

I live in the US, and I still haven't gotten around to picking this one up. So UKers take comfort, you'll still most likely get the game before I do.

@epic-koryuken, Swing and a miss.

Maybe I'm not very smart, but I just don't understand why a game can or must be region locked. Wouldn't be easier to publish all games "region free" regardless where you choose to publish the game? I could have imported this game months ago...

I've played $60 games that weren't anywhere near as good as Deadly Premonition. It's not for everyone, but for those who like that sort of thing, it is the sort of thing they like.

They should have pointed out the 11/10 review it got from ntsc-uk, instead. That's more than ten!

Gaaaah...stop making me want to play this game, Jim... >_< I have both this and No More Heroes...my head would explode if I had to choose between the two...

And before you guys respond, that's not to imply me slamming Deadly Premonition. Everything that's NOT about shooting joker zombies in the game may bore me to death, but it's the build-up that really gives the picture its frame sometimes.
