Deadly Premonition creator planning a new game photo

Deadly Premonition director Swery65 has revealed that his team at Access Games is working on a brand new project! However, before he can properly get started, he needs a publisher.

"It’s high time we started working on something new," said the cult game designer. However, since the company I work for, Access Games, is only a developer at this point, we focus on creating games ... we have to team up with a publisher and create a scheme for the entire process from production to release.

"In other words, the reality of the matter is that I can say I want to make a new game! As much as I want, but that alone is not enough to start the process. Would anyone be ready to invest in us?"

Swery promises that he'll "work until it kills him" to make "something really good" and has assured any potential publisher that they won't regret backing his team. Sadly, Destructoid doesn't publish games or we'd have him in a heartbeat. Hopefully a publisher will snap Access up quickly!

They might have better luck scaling back and working on a smaller downloadable game.

This is great news. Sure, it's early and uncertain, but I can't see him not getting financial backing in the future. Good luck to Access Games.

As long as it doesn't suck like Dead Premonition's, I'll be behind it.

Think they should follow the route of Double Fine and make some DL games. I am also hoping Double Fine and Tim Schafer get back into creating full titles.

I got 5 on it as well.

You know, if Kickstarter.com could get that robocop statue built in Detroit, it seems reasonable that dtoiders could raise enough capital to at least partially fund this. Say dtoiders raise %50 and hope someone like Atlus likes us enough to pony up the other half.

Plus, you could gaurantee that Destructoid would give it a 10/10

/joking about that last part...

This is the best new i've heard all day, Deadly Premonition has to be one of my favourite games this generation despite its drawbacks, I look forward to what Access Games has to offer in the future.
Oh and I second ScaryJim's statement, Nintendan, you are wrong.

Nah this won't happen, publishers only like safe bets and after all Deadly Premonition was an awful and ugly looking game so why would people want another?

I'm sure he'll find a publisher soon! Especially with dtoid starting to get the word out that he's looking! :)

Shouldn't "however" through to "release" in the 2nd paragraph be in quotes? Also, I think they'll try too hard to make it so-bad-it's-good and make just a bad game.

I couldn't even stand 5 minutes of deadly premonition and usually I love weird games that are so bad its good, but to me it was just awful. But that being said I'm always down to try out new games and judge them myself so find a publisher quick!

I had a hard time tracking down a copy of Deadly Premonition but it was worth it cause it was definitely one of the best games i played in 2010.

So a new game from Swery65 is a day one for me!

@xzyliac

Probably because they don't have enough money to do so. But like I said earlier, if we split the cost 50/50 with a real developer, that might be doable

Deadly Premonition brought my grandma back from the dead long enough for us to go to Branson and have our picture taken in front of the waterfall. Then I kissed her on her cheek and told her she was the bee's knees. Then she died again. Deadly Premonition is a miraculous, true thing in my heart and the light behind my eyes.

As much as I persoanlly love games made by Swery, I can understand a publishers unease when thinking about publishing games by the developer. His games never really sell all that well and they are extremely far from what anyone would call AAA titles.

Deadly Premonition is one the rare next-gen game I really, really loved. This is a bit disturbing.
With only two games behind him I'm not sure Swery65 can do a Deadly Premonition again, but I do want to see a new game from him. Make it happen!

I'd be fine with a big budget or small budget game. Some publisher needs to get on board. Deadly Premonition wasn't "so bad it's good," it was an outdated and great game. Well worth the $20. Still can't believe it came out for $20.

Cage the Elephant? Borderlands? Sir, I believe the song you're referring to is "Ain't No Rest For the Wicked"
