Dead to Rights Retribution delayed photo

Dead to Rights Retribution has been pushed back to 2010.

Several days ago, Namco-Bandai partners updated its UK release schedule. The notable omission from the 2009 column was Volatile Games third title in the Dead to Rights series. But don’t think of it as a sequel. According to the folks we talked to, the game is a reboot, a revival of a franchise starting to go wrong.

Several retailers have picked up the news: GameStop and Amazon are both listing the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3-friendly title for 2010, but there’s some confusion on exactly when. This is fairly common. Retailer listings are often wrong when a game is this far out. Sometimes we think they throw darts at a calendar in order to choose a date.

If you want to know more about Retribution, check out our preview. We didn’t leave the demonstration unimpressed, but the extra development time could really make this title pop.

Man, I don't think this is on anybody's radar. The original was hyped when it came out, but wasn't that great, and both of the sequels garnered modest-to-low scores. I know Namco seems to have some love for the title, but I'm thinking its success was due more to when it was released rather than the quality present in the game itself. They're going to have to put some serious time into this baby to make it stand out in any way, shape, or form.
