So now you know that there's really a Dead Space Wii game. And that there really was an unfinished Dead Space Xbox game. In a recent interview, game director Glen Schofield says that the upcoming Wii version looks better than the Xbox one did.
"I'd hope so," says Destructoid Editor-in-Chief Nick Chester. "It's only six years later."
Yeah, I get what Nick's saying. But Schofield is making this game sound really good regardless of what it's compared to:
"You should see it, he says. "It looks fantastic on the Wii. In my opinion (and others) its one of the best looking games so far on the Wii."
And it's not just the visuals that sound good. Schofield says that there "are new enemies, characters, story, puzzles, co-op and weapons. And yes, physics and even zero-g play a huge part in the game."
When asked if we can expect the Wii game to look as good as the Xbox version scenes did, Schofield said "better."
"Better, I think. It really looks freakin great. I kid you not."
I don't know about you all, but I'm looking forward to this game.

Umm, did you not see the trailer a little while back?
@gatorsax2010
It is a rail-shooter akin to Umbrella Chronicles. Since when was this a bad thing?
Put away the Dtoid "Wii gr4fx SUXZ!!" dogma. He's referring to it being better than the original Xbox version of the game, not Xbox 360.
I've been burned by EA trailers before.
Sure, it could be good, but as good as House of the Dead Overkill, and better than a real Dead Space side story would be? No.
touche! I thought Army of Two was a decent rent and Dead Space was probably my favorite game of 08. So I am anxious for more time with it.
And this isn't a Dead Space Side story, it is a prequel.
I hope this isn't a light gun game. Wii gamers deserve more.
Not that I dislike light gun games but could be so much more. Since when are the graphics the main appeal of an on rails shooter?
Because I don't want to play yet another "space alien/rails shooter". House of the Dead: Overkill was amazing because it was a breath of fresh air for the genre, and was one of the few "gritty" titles on the Wii.
Imagine the best parts of Dead Space in a rail shooter? Sounds great, but not better than anything I've ever played before.
Know what could have been above and beyond? A real Dead Space side story game, perhaps with a space marine, or medic; simply with downgraded graphics. Dead Space was fresh in terms of action survival horror, but put it in a stale genre like a rails shooter? Not quite as enticing.
CocoJambo summed up everything I could say. It's like they wanted to use the Xbox dev version to make a new Wii Dead Space, saw how easily they can make it into a rails shooter given the success of House of the Dead Overkill, and went for it.
Except for the fact that the game has been in development for a year and Overkill JUST CAME OUT. But that is besides the point, right?
How can it be a watered-down port if it is an original game? Seriously..no one on the innernet reads!
Dead Space Wii was "just" announced recently as a rails shooter; who's to say what the original concept was?
Also, you realize that Overkill was in DEVELOPMENT way before it was RELEASED right? It immediately received hype as soon as people found out about it.

Yes the game was recently announced as a Wii game and as an on-rail shooter but they said they have been working on it for over a year.
Sure Overkill got a lot of hype but if you are working on a title for a long time, you aren't going to switch directions mid-stream just cause some OTHER game developer made some game and it got a lot of hype. That is just idiotic thinking!
How hard is it grasp the concept of "we're making a game for a Wii, a motion controlled controller console with a pointer. Let's make an on-rails game!"? Why does everyone think this was changed last minute to make it a completely different game? And we are talking about a company owned by EA! You think EA is going to let someone switch streams midway on a game that isn't proven yet (and when House of the Dead was announced there was no guarantee on either success)?
Seriously...c'mon now!
Also, a nice image...looks better full size but you can't see full-size here and I am too lazy to link.
Point taken. Nice image! Why couldn't HOTD:Overkill look like that?
{yawn}
Unless Moto has any other headlines from 2006 that he'd like to share first. :)
EA disappoints in that section, they obviously have a great new concept, that worked on the PSMS. Why change that for the Wii? Unless they believe that all wii consumers consider the wii as a home arcade and not a gaming console.
Other than this being annoying for me and several others, i sense a slight disrespect for our demands and deceiving behavior in that the game was not announced as a rail shooter from start, a move that has back fired and suggests that sales of the game will not be as anticipated by EA, since the alienation of most of us has caused a lack of interest.
