EA and Image Comics have united to create a six issue comic detailing the events prior to the horrors of Dead Space.  Written and illustrated by Ben Templesmith of 30 Days of Night fame and co-written by Wasteland author Antony Johnston, the book tells the tale of an off-world mining colony that unearths an alien life force that really likes killing, or blood, or both.

The first issue of the Dead Space prequel will be available in stores on March 3rd.  However, attendees of Wondercon in San Francisco will have an opportunity to pick up a limited edition first issue with alternate cover art.  Ben Templesmith and Antony Johnston will be on hand to sign the book on the 22nd and 23rd, and the first 25 people in queue each day will receive a free copy of the first edition.

It's times like these that I'm glad my college offers a graphic novel class that I happen to be enrolled in.

How about they make sure the game is well received before making tons of additional material?

I downloaded the trailer for this on the market place (Xbox 360 here) and it looked fucking crap. I don't know how they managed to smuggle that terrible and poor quality video out to show the public, it is a terrible 'showcase' movie to be showing the public. I will still try this game but the video on the market place left a very bad impression for me

I've been enjoying some of the short-run TV and game related comics lately. The Serenity series was entertaining enough and I really liked the Halo graphic novel... I'll keep my eyes out for this.

The hero's one-liners don't seem to fit with the overall feel of the graphic novel.
